Oh we have a few guys like that around here and there is very few log trucks older than about 8 years but some guys just know and love the old Detroits and I don't blame them.

Never quite sure if it is impolite to refer to them as mud carters.

Probably more polite than calling them mud packers. Although the best insult we ever got on one of the long haul drivers we used to work with was calling him a steering wheel attendant. Most truckies laugh it off and accept the nick name but this guy got all defensive and shitty and actually requested to be taken off our run.
