Adding 2-Stroke oil to Diesel

I really wish I could find some factual evidence on how it works, what it does to the combustion process etc but I can't. I've used it now on three separate occasions with tanks of plain diesel in between and the truck starts better, runs better, goes better and is quieter without a doubt. It's a shame that it's a bit cost inhibitive to do all the time, just recently coming home from easter camping I had it mixed in and pulled the camper up Mt Victoria in third gear, even having to back off for some of the tighter corners, it really pulls better from low revs with it in.

Thats truly amazing.....which oil are you using??

Im getting same results as him^^ and im using a semi synthetic oil (meets all other requirements tho) and the exhaust with the mixed fuel is, no ****, completely odourless just like warm air if you stick your head down there for a sniff, makes me think it burns so clean it doesnt matter what oil you use....

Haha yeah, i just wanna curl up down there and drift off to la-la land.
Had another sniff today, you can still smell the diesel but not nearly as much as normal. Couldn't detect a 2-stroke smell.
Dodgy science experiment; Iv cleaned the chrome tip (yes iv got a chrome tip on, its a long story), will see how many tankfuls it takes to get dirty.

I'm sold.......adding 2T is the cheapest, easiest and best performance enhancing mod of all time, dollar for dollar.
Do it now.

No emissions readings- thats a bit hi-tec for me, egt's are about the same. I used 350ml which is a tad less than 200:1 as its a 75l tank and was the first batch. From here on i'll add enough for however much fuel i put in. If you run that ratio with petrol in a rotary you will smell it.

You don't have to be 'sold' on it as I'm sure you've stated before that you've tried it your self with the same results that every one else gets although you're reluctant because it's unproven.
It's certainly not the best mod ever, it's just interesting for the curious among us.

fourocker;174483 as I'm sure you've stated before that you've tried it your self with the same results that every one else gets .[/QUOTE said:
what i am sure of is the need for you to verify the above

I've re read and can't verify that, so I apologise to you, I'd mistaken input from others to that of your's. In fact re reading your input has given me alternative trains of thought, as I stated before it's not something I'll be doing all the time any way, I like the effects but I'm mostly curious on what changes and how it works, comes from years working as a fitter/machinist trouble shooting machinery I guess.

dont stress mate too much...

feel free to make your own choices on using 2T or not, tho I would say this...use a mineral base oil like Castrol Active 2T, if you are to use it.

No sweat....Yep, that's one thing we agree on, both brands I've used so far were mineral based, first thing I checked.

well i tried this and i will NEVER add castrol 2t or any other oil to my fuel..
i went to cobden on tuesday so i thought this would be a good long run to try it out on..
well, the ute never felt as gutless as it did with the oil mixed in..(300ml)
as soon as the tank was 1/2 empty i re filled it and noticed improvement straight away.
my thoughts based on facts,so feel free to do what you like but for me......never again

you put too much in. you want 100ml-200ml for a full tank. that may vary a bit depending on oil used.

cmon....you need to do a few times at least, so to back up your claims.

I'm a bit worried about just how finite these measurements are now. 200ml in 60 odd liters and your diesel engine goes like a rocket 300ml in the same amount and it's gutless. You really wouldn't want to mess up and add a little too much because the bottle slipped when the error margin is so low or you'll go from rocket to snail and be racing into your mechanic asking why your engines so rooted.
