i am pretty sure the zd30 needs at least 45 cetane diesel and the later d22 with the common rail and the d40 as well (same pumps same injectors) need at least 50 cetane. my job has nothing to do with chemistry so i have no idea why higher cetane is better etc, but from my personal experience if you are using a good brand of diesel (like bp, shell around here is considered garbage fuel) and above all the guy who supplies your diesel doesnt go monkey mode blending the fuels or add water etc to steal your money you will be fine. personally i refill at the same station 9/10 and get the same consumptions and never had power loss. some years ago i filled up at a monkey store and truck wouldnt start because the "diesel" was 5% actual fuel and 95% water. biodiesel is a % on every fuel sold nowadays. personally i am not too conserned about it. never added 2 stroke oils or bothered with "add this cleaner to the tank and your pump will be brand new!" products and truck runs more than perfect. same on our d40 when injectors started to get noisy we just removed them sent them to a bosch specialist he cleaned them up and away we went. sometimes overcommiting is a bad thing.
