so i tried to do the install today and had problems with the front. didnt even attempt the rear. The stock UCA couldn't even be attached after the spacer was installed.

The only option i think i will have is to get new UCA's. Any tips on which ones?

cheers

yeah just seen the superpro ones for $799 bloody joke what site did you order yours from? and how long was the delivery? did u get the break lines from the same source?

Performance lifts in the us..or 4x4parts.com hav em.well under 2 weeks for delivery and the brake lines were local

There has to be a reason, maybe youre not doing it right. Hundreds if not thousannds have done it before with stock UCA's

2.5' spacers on top of 2' lifted springs...was always going to be a big ask.i think if yiu could compress the spring enough (jack the lower arm up) you might get the upper arm ball joint back together......

My bad, I didnt read first post. I thought it was simply a 2.5 inch spacer....Ill go back to my beers now........

Just bought the SPC Upper Control Arms from performance lifts. Cant wait for them to get delivered and finish off this bloody install!!

Good work mate.you wont be dissapointed...another good thing about those arms is the extra adjustment you get with the upper ball joint they use.

I Have a Tough Dog 2.5" Lift and installed 2" spacers and extended shackles on mine. I did get UCA touching so i bought extended ball joints and had a suspension place fit them. I'm sure the Tough Dog lift comes with extended brake lines, i didnt have any probs with that. While i was there i asked what the big deal was with the ext balljoints as some people think its a crime to put them in and i was told there is nothing at all wrong with it. People warn against them because they want you to buy they expensive modified UCA.
Installing the exteneded ball joints bought the UCA back to standard position and had no issues with CV joints being on the wrong angle. Also wheel alignment was done with no issue.

I have done a heap of research of ball joints vs UCA and decided to just go for it and get the UCA for all the other benefits (adjustable/improved camber etc).

I tried to add 2.5" strut spacer with my tough dog it and it didnt even come close. Im actually happy that it didnt work out and forced me to do the suspension properly.

A little update.

I did the the full install this weekend, put in the 2.5" spacer in the front on top of my tough dog kit and the front is super high now...also put in extended shackles in the rear for an extra 2" of lift. Car overal sits nice and high.

I changed the front upper control arms with SPC upper arms and it was super easy to install and sits nice now.

The issues I had.

The joiners thing that connect the sway bar to the lower control arms popped off when the suspension was at full droop. Had to put the tire on then connect the sway bar after. Looks over but might have issues on full droop when off road.

Secondly, my front alignment was horrible after the instal due to changing the UCA. I had the setting at most forward and this pushing the tires in for a super positive camber. I took it straight it for an alignment and they pushed the setting right back. Now i have noticed that the bolt that connects the UCA to the wishbone hits the strut bucket at the top. Any one experience this?? Very annoying. Going to take it back it and see if it can be moved around to fix it.

Over all, super happy with it. Now have around 4.5" at the front and 4" at the rear. Sits nice and flat.

Some times you need to clearance the uca balljoint depending where your alignment ends up..the instructions that came with the arms have a section on that.
I personally think 4" is the max you want to lift the front.as you will now notice you have next to no droop.things will bind at that height...but CVs are cheap and the swaybar you can remove!!
Enjoy mate!

I had to cut some of the coil bucket lip off to make room for the balljoint...some peeps have just hammered it in a bit.i did both.
At 4-5" you almost want sway bar extensions to level it back up.
A d40s wheel downtravel is almost maxed out at 4-5" if you jack up the ute do the wheels drop down much?
