Wind's not as bad here today as it was yesterday but since my office is in the garage I certainly don't need fans and stuff to keep my computer cool. I'm actually thinking of installing a heater incase the chip gets so cold that it thinks it's off.

Haha, I don't have that issue in High Rise buildings... I can barely tell if its raining sometimes.

Did you see in the news that some Apple sites got hacked?

No, I haven't was busy with a client/mate.

I hope they didn't get too many seeds.

I like the way they get Wikileaks in the article to add validity to it.

Next time I get interviewed for anything computer related I'm going to drop the name Wikileaks in every sentence and it will go global within hours.

haha oh soo true.

I'm about to email my suppliers with threatening wikileak comments, the mongrels have gone and dwindled down stock for the end of the financial year and are awaiting containers of **** which is suppose to arrive asap but that doesn't help me putting in orders right now.

Naah, just power up some old quad processor computer or two. At one stage my "Office" had 16 computers set up and rolling. Hmm, warm.

Nah CRT monitors are better for that, back when I used to work in the IT department at DSS we used to have a number of managers that we were sure just turned their monitors on to keep their hands warm until they remembered how to make their first coffee for the day. After the first coffee the monitors then only got used to distract them when the screen savers kicked in.

Now I know why I keep the three 21" glass monsters around.

Actually I was using them until The Boss's monitor started to flicker and we purchased our first pair of LCD screens, which she promptly didn't like and I frugally made use of both. Hmmmm.

With two KVM switches around, there isn't that many monitors in the office.

Never liked working in big places. Being part of the team dotting i's just didn't appeal.

Think yourself lucky, my new contract is purely external peripherals (USB) but to get system authorisation to install the software I have to go through the state office manager in charge of the deal, she has to go talk to a Melb based IT company, the IT company then have to talk to their contractor who contracts to regional areas and they have to liaise with me all to install 200meg of software.

What's even sillier is that I personally know the guy that's got the IT contract, I have given him other jobs over the years, I've been in the business longer than him and was in fact first in line to buy his company when the previous owner sold it to him. We've already had discussions about the job but because they haven't come through the official channels they mean nothing. Bureaucratic ******** at its best.

Chuckle. I just love those situations, when someone else is paying, otherwise forget it.

Worst was Sydney Water, which is an IBM site, which explains it all really. Me from my end(NSW government dept), sets up old PC on lan to dial into Sydney Water to collect property boundary changes. Close to 18 people involved at their end. Even had one guy tell me that because they used SDLC, it wouldn't work with async. Right!

So happy I've retired.

We didnt miss it Dave ... just working out how to git back at him ...

for those that are interested ... he's not at his computer for most of today - so hijack away 'cause he cant respond to ya's until much later.

Woops. All good, I usually read over before I hit post.

Oh and probably is time I went to church, its certainly been a wheel.

Will you stinking rotten bastards stop hijacking the thread I was handed by default because hijacking is so bad and evil and you are all stinky bums so make yourself useful and talk about computers.

As for you Woody, with friends like you who needs enemies, am slowly trying to organise my next trip down (more cameras needed) but with your bloody attitude the best you can hope for is poisoned lunch.
