here are some pics of my setup rascal, i use the same plug as yours but took the 'L' bracket off it and used a flat plate on the inside of the tray mainly to cover the hole.

so all your aspan plug fuses are hiden behind the tail light but you can still get to them if need be!

Old Tony. You said yours is wired up and only works when ignition is on... How did you wire that up? Thru ignition barrel? Won't this be too much power drain for the fridge?

Mine is via a 40A relay mounted in the engine bay. The relay is turned on when ignition is active.

Always use relays for this sort of thing, saves damaging the other circuits.

What sort of relay? Could you please possibly post a link up for it as if like to purchase one? Thankyou

But in saying all that, why wouldnt you want constant power to the socket, rather than when just key is on? Don't you want fridge to stay cold even when you park up at camp site?

Also what brand. Or sort of battery isolator can you recommend between the both batteries?
Thanx

You could get a decent one from Jaycar like this 60A horn relay. You don't want to be charging your auxiliary battery from your main battery while the engine isn't running, hence the cut in power. Let the aux battery die - no drama there, you can still start your car and get home.

i put aflush mount ciggi 30 amp socket into the tail light assembley ran twin 6mm cable straight out the bottom with original wires and on top of chassis to engine bay then to battery via a 30 amp automatic cirket breaker took about an hour all up 4x4 action did an articel on it a while back cost me about 50 bucks all up

will the ctek d250 be sufficient to give the 2nd battery a good deep charge or still need the 240v charger for that?
