It was better in the 60's & 70's. they had some intelligent speakers and people who could use humour very deftly.

I think Gough Whitlam's interjection to Winton Turnbull's statement was the absolute best. The man had a wit as sharp as a razor.

Turnbull: "I'm a country member"
Whitlam: "I remember."

Nuff said.

Just getting back on topic I want the govt to pump billions of cheap credit into the economy to inflate the value of my house so I can sell it for what I paid for it 5 years ago. That is it.

yeah but 5 years ago Brisbane hadnt been flooded twice in two years.

I am North of Brizzy and never flooded however I will concede that the floods haven't helped pump the housing market back up again. Cheap credit aka nil lending criteria would help though IMHO.

It was what they did in the USa and got us into this shit.

Umm, I'm not sure that I'm bothered really as most of the economy before the GFC was piss and wind anyway.

I would be happy if the gummint stopped giving handouts.
I'm with Dave on the nanny and paid maternity leave crap. That is just a rort for the rich.

Well, it seems that the Noalition have till sept 14 to ditch the mad monk and install turnbull -- that's of course if they want to be in government!

Can't see that happening unless the polls take a dip. Depending on the poll one believes Gillard is already preferred PM but her party isn't preferred. If the party starts taking a dive in the polls they may consider kicking Tony out but otherwise I can't see it.

Niether can I. Which may be a help for the ALP. Libs are winning on 2 party prefered but the gap always narrows just prior to an election. Word has it, there are some Libs that are not to happy with Tony everthing's performance.

We have some of the most expenisve housing in the world, right now.

Compared to third world hovels?
After hearing bleating about house prices for nearly a decade I'm firmly convinced that people are not prepared to really look around and must want to be on the beach in a new MacMansion or something. We purchased in what was and still is a good suburb and the existing house&land prices here are still the same ratio of earnings they were when we purchased. I see the same thing in many other suburbs.

So I'm firmly convinced there are very affordable house&land lots, etc for those who are realistic.

Polls, hmm I wonder if Bob will be running a candidate this far south. I always vote first for the biggest silly ratbag party that I can to send a message to the big guys.

it gets hard to do that when the herd is mostly petty, nasty, vicious parties and do we get them out here.

Back closer to topic- You maybe in luck, the mad Katter he will be fielding a candidate in every seat, at least in Qld. If he does pickup a few seats it will definatley send a message it's just trying to work out what the message is will be the trick:)
