Hi Guys, got a 2010 ST Auto 2.5D Navara with 7000ks
So far vehicle has been great, averaging 500 - 540ks city driving.
The only problem I have had a knocking & rattle coming through the steering only when I do a right hand turn, this doesnt feel rite.
Went to Nissan service, they could not find anything wrong - as expected
Went second time and service manager deove my car to simulate knock
He felt the knock in the steering - later that day they called me to pick up the car and as expected sorry sir there is nothing wrong with your car...
No Im peed off.
Went back to dealership, they cant help - they reccommended I go to Nissan which I have and made a complaint.
A $ 45k truck should not be doing this, I am in the process of getting independant assessments from other dealers & mechanics.
I further got under the front end to check and found that the front right hand drive shaft rattles when you shake it, left one no noise.
Mentioned this to service manager, and he tells me this is normal tolerance.
What a load of crap.......I can understand why people get frustrated.
Has anybody else had this problem ?
They think Im making this up, but when you buy a new car you seem to figure it out pretty quick.
I will keep batting as I know there is a problem and I will get it fixed by Nissan. Maybe the should employ real mechanics and people who know their cars....................

Keep you posted Fuzz

Welcome to the forums Fuzz. Can't say I've suffered the same problem with my 09 although I think there was someone on here a few months back saying something similar but I don't remember whether it was a D40 or D22.

You say you went back to Nissan atleast once with no good result but you don't say if you took it too a different dealer. If I was you I'd be sure to take it to more than one dealer, your warranty is national and not all dealers are morons with brainless monkeys in their service department. Most of them seem to be but you might be pleasantly suprised by taking it to another dealer who actually wants to help.

Hi there, thanks for that, yes I will take it to another dealer for a second opinion
I will also go to front end specialist for further opinion.
I will battle on to get to the bottom of this as I know my truck and somrthing is not right.
Cheers Fuzz
They Joys of motoring.........................................................

I had (have) that problem with my March 2010 build ST.

Turns out it's the airbag cover that rattles. It's supposed to be a little loose, but mine is looser than I would have expected. Check if that's what the problem is. Sometimes I can stop it just because of the position of my hands, it is only very minor. Only problem is when you go over bumps and you feel it in the steering wheel, it's a bit unnerving sometimes...

hey fuzz, i have the exact same problem, have taken to dealer service dept twice and they cant find anything. your whole post sounds like my problem right down to the last word, have you solved the problem mate as it is driving me crazy and as you said a 45k vehicle shouldnt be doin this!
