Can anyone give me some ideas where they ran the light cables into the motor bay and the cab? my lights are on a roof rack. was thinking running it under the car...

Cheers

How are you planning on getting the wires from the lights to below the car? Once your under, you should be able to poke them into the can which would protect them a bit more, then run them up to your switch.

going to bring the cable down between the cab and the tub and then start going to the front underneath.

Cool, my light bar is in the mail, so I've been thinking of how I need to run mine. Il probably do the same. And like I said, once underneath, find somewhere to pop the wires into the cab and run them up to the dash for some power and a switch.

For my light bar i ran the cable from the battery to the cab through the passenger side firewall to a switch and relay. From there I ran it out of the same hole in the firewall, down past the exhaust and along the top of the chassis rail, up between the cab and tray and zip tied it to the the sports bar and onto the roof racks where the light bar is attached.

Could have you just tapped into the wiring from your spotties for your forward facing light bar? I was thinking of doing that. Then that's one less switch and solenoid you would need?

Ok. I just got a switch (same as yours i think) to wire up my rear facing light bar, I was gonna put the bar in the middle of the sports bar. Any reason you put yours over on the left side?

Vision, try looking out of your rear vision mirror, visibility is pretty poor

Whoops, too late. At the moment it's in the centre under the sports bar. I want to mount it on top, but I won't fit in the garage if I do. Il re-fit them in a year when we build a house and have a proper sized roller door. Bloody midgets!!

I just checked and yeh. Can still see pretty good. The real test will be on the road in traffic, but I think it will be fine. I didn't attach it directly below the bar. I rotated it around a little bit towards the middle of the bar as much as I could. The brackets don't allow for much movement, but it probably got me a few cm of extra vision I suppose.

After I fitted it and tested the light I noticed it was pointing upward slightly, and the brackets were already adjusted all the way down. Argh!! Fixed it with the angle grinder, making my own adjustments to the brackets. Haha

nice 4x4 ST-R!! I got around to wiring my roof lights in today. Here some pics of how i ran the cable, i know between the tub and the cab its not the neatest job but didnt want to drill the roof so this is the way i did it. The rest of the cable is run under the truck. Also need to change to 100 watt becuase these 55 watt globes just dont do it :D

Yeh boy! That's a good job, and a good looking Nav too. I'm still trying to figure out exactly where to mount my light bar for the front. I might try and make a bracket so it sits directly above the windscreen. Or maybe just bolt it straight into the roof. It's a big move, hence why I haven't done it yet. Haha

Yeh, wire them up. I wired mine to a switch in the dash. I was going to wire them into my reverse lights, so when I select reverse they come on to assist with night reversing. I decided not to, as the light bar is super bright and it could possible cause night blindness to someone if I were to reverse in a car park or on a public road.

Because yours is more of a work light, you could wire yours to your reverse lights and a switch. So they come on for reversing and you can also turn them on for seeing in your tub. That would also send power to your reverse lights, but that's cool.

But yeh, wire them in.
