Now onto the actual install.
Do I have to disconnect brake lines or ABS lines or will there be enough slack to install the new springs.
The rest should be easy enough.
Jack up truck
Drop wheels
Drop shocks
Drop U Bolts
Drop blocks out
Lower diff

In with new springs with all new bush's
New U Bolts
New Shocks

Wheels back on drop off the stands and drive away

If only it goes that smooth lol

Pitty your not in Brissy, Id lend a hand. Always keen to get on the tools and see how things work.... Knowledge is power.

Good Luck, keep us upto date.

Actually, jack up till it just starts to take the weight, go around and undo all the bolts, if you've still got then original suspension in there, don't be surprised if you have to cut out the rusty shackle pins

Once everything is undone, remove the u-bolts and shackles and other pins, etc.

Jack the car up some more till everything separates' pull the bold leaf pack out, slip the new leaf pack in and put it ball back together. Don't forget to grease everything as you re-install it. And give any bolt threads a dab of nickel anti-sieze.

Well the springs are in and new shocks fitted
All up took about 3 hours but I still have to put back on a mud flap check all the bolts and bolts the wheels back on .
No stuck bolts and everything went reasonably well. Did it all myself ( little toad of a son decided a party was more important than helping me lol ) First side as always was the hardest trying to figure out how it all goes together, second side a snap.
Had to unclip the handbrake cables, brake lines on the diff and ABS cables so the diff would get enough clearance to get the springs in.

Old stuff out !!

Basically it was pretty straight forward
Put the truck on stands
Off with the wheels
Unclip brake lines etc
Remove the shocks
remove the springs

install new bush's to springs and chassis
install springs and swear heaps while trying to turn yourself inside out man handling the springs back into the truck.
install new U Bolts and hand tighten to keep diff in place
Jack up the diff to load up the springs a little
start tightening all the bolts on the springs and then the U Bolts
Install new Rancho shocks

walk away slowly cos I was buggered doing it all by myself lol

will finish checking everything tomorrow

Just got back froma drive over every speed bump I could find. The ride is so so much better .Still has to settle a bit . With 40mm blocks on crap stock springs I was 940mm from eyebrow to ground. After the lift 965mm . Both measurements without the spare wheel
Still have to play around with shock settings but so far am really impressed .Where it used to hit the bump stops and make a really bad ride it now just sails across the bumps and soaks them up nicely and thats with the shocks set at 5 so still have to see how 1 and 9 feels and all the numbers in between.
Will def be looking at 50mm or 100mm longer rear brake lines though as at full droop the lines are tight .Going to swap the front lines anyway to try to get a better pedal and thats meant to do it .

Sorry to dredge up an old thread
I had an issue with one of the Rancho shocks bleeding oil
Anyway I spoke to John at 4WD1 and he sent me out a new shock.
Have to say the after sales service is great .

Oh yeah forgot to add
have done about 15k on the new rear suspension and part from the odd squeak from the rear springs the ride is still great.Soaks up speed bumps and doesnt try to impact my butt through my ears
