Hi, I apologise if there is a running thread for this kind of question, I did search but couldn't find one.

I have a 2011 D40 and I would like to program a new key. I have tried the method of locking all the doors and then putting the new key in and out 10 times but I never get the indicators to flash. If I continue anyway and turn the key to ACC I get a "SECURE" message on the display screen.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks, Daniel.

Reading the manual for the 2011 D40 - apparently the key ID needs to be registered with both the BCM and the ECM. The only way to do this (according to the documentation) appears to be with a CONSULT device.

Any mention of the new key registration (check page 71 of the file I've attached) advises the service person to refer to the CONSULT Operation Manual NATS.

Hopefully you'll find something in there that I've missed.

Have a look at the Autel MaxiAP200. It reads codes in all modules plus I can confirm it will code keys, injectors and recode ECU's to suit the keys, BCM and immobiliser. They're about $AUD130 on eBay and other online sites and give close to Dealer level capability.

If you think this is for you make sure it's the AP200 not the cheaper reduced features AP200H, AP200C or AP200M

I bought one of these for about $AUD100 and it programs keys and injectors. I used it on my 2011 D40 Navara to program a new key I purchased on Aliexpress.

Hi Scott, when you programed the new key did you have to reprogram the keys still working? On the NP300 manual and Maxiap200 scanner manual it appears that when you add a new key fob you have to program all key fobs. Have a question about this in Autel tech support.

Yes that's correct ... you reprogram all keys. Once you're in the programming mode you can have ten keys and program them all. It works well.

For information this is where I bought my replacement key. Locksmiths wanted about $200 for the same thing and Nissan was a lot more. I took my original and the replacement to a locksmith at the local shopping centre and had it cut. That didn't cost too much.

Thanks Scott, been awhile but do you remember the procedure? Get the “confirm fob ID” first then ?.?
See attached menu from Maxiap200. Any advise greatly appreciated.

Phillip it's been a few years since I did my key however that screenshot doesn't seem familiar ... the software's probably been updated since I last used it for the keys. I found a couple of YT videos that explained it pretty well.

Update. It appears that the AP200 scanner will work on some models to program new fob keyless devices but the menu is not available for the Navara NP300. North American support pushed me onto Asian support who were unhelpful and refered me to their professional dedicated key fob devise (IM508).
Still a very useful tool.
Let me know if anybody has success using AP200 to burn NP300 fob.

When I check the vehicle coverage on the Autel website it suggests the AP200 will do the IMMO/Keys for the NP300

Yes I did check Autel.com AP200 coverage and many menus available but when you go to do it the one “Burn new fob” or similar does not show up as an option. YouTube info for other vehicle types is clear and easy to follow but no NP300 info. The manual for AP200 is very limited.
Thanks for interest.

I thought this part of the table was relevant and I can see it's the same for my Thai D40 2011 as it is for the NP300. The abbreviations seem to imply erasing and registering keys in the BCM. Tomorrow I'll connect my AP200 and let it update to the latest software and have a look at the IMMO section for my own interest.

This the menu I am presented with under Hot Functions.
I refreshed my memory doing keys with the AP200 on the Thai built 2011 D40 and did a screenshot video of the menu steps. Note there's a sub menu called NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System) in the Nissan module so that's what I have to go into.
I went right up to the Erase keys sub menu then cancelled and backed out.

This video is from my Samsung A72 Galaxy phone which I successfully used a few years ago to erase the key then reprogram it and the new Aliexpress key.

Does this look anything like yours?

Hello Scott, did quickly check my NP300 procedure and it is the same except you select NP300. I started with ignition off and hazard switch on and was instructed to turn ignition switch on at a latter point. I also stopped prior to erasing all fobs as I have lent the car and do not want to have any issues if erase/burn fails. This is a bit like a good book with the last page torn out.
Hopefully will proceed in a week or two.
Thanks Scott for direction as I was going into wrong menu

picture shows where I got to.

Well I'm pleased my little screenshot video was helpful and got you heading in the right direction.

Report back to this thread once you've done the keys as it's handy information. We know the AP200 does the D40 (Thai built) and hopefully you'll find the same with the NP300.

For interest after I did the keys I bought the ECU from a twin cab and swapped it. The reason I did that was for the power upgrade. The single cab is de-rated to 106Kw compared to the king and dual cabs at 126kw. Everything's the same other than the program in the ECU.

As soon as you change one of the four items ... ECU, BCM, Key or IMMO (a little module on the ignition barrel that reads the key) then the security light flashes and the vehicle won't start. It will crank but that's all.

So I swapped the ECU then fingers crossed plugged in the AP200 and went through the steps of "After replacing or installing operation" which is the sub menu (0.43 on my video) you access if you're swapping the ECU, BCM or IMMO. The process is the same in that the keys are erased then you program them one after the other and the 4 items ... key, ECU, BCM and IMMO are coded together to create a new "security set".

I had visions of a tilt tray truck taking my vehicle to the dealer to get it sorted out after my driveway DIY coding operation.

You can imagine my relief when I'd completed the coding 🤞I turned the key and it started first go!:)👏

Then later I used the injector coding feature as my injector codes had to replace the dual cab codes.
