Problem going into Limp Mode when driving a Mexican 2018 NP300 with the YD25 diesel engine in the USA using ultra-low sulfur diesel. My truck goes into Limp Mode and now I find the only way to stop it is to change the fuel filter. No issues when burning Mexican Diesel in it. Are there any options for a higher sulfur in the USA as I need to drive back through the USA soon.

that sounds interesting.

is the fuel filter getting dirty? i would reset the fuel data.
can you pull up any error codes ?

no idea on what fuel usa has. i highly doubt they would have high sulfur diesel for regular vehicles. tho farm fuel supplies could be different.

The US has regulations concerning diesel fuel (3 main regs). Each type regulates the % of biodiesel incorporated in the mix (see below). Not that I believe it's significant for low blends, but too much bio will/might create issues and degrade rubber gaskets and rubber lines over time. An engine will run fine regardless of the blends at 100% bio or low blends, it's just knowing if the fuel lines/circuit can handle high %s of biofuel. With that in mind perhaps you have a "leaky" gasket due to a swollen or mushy rubber gasket because the blend you pumped in your tank was high mix? You say that replacing the fuel filter fixes it (temporarily?), perhaps when you change the filter it releases a vacuum in the fuel line caused by swelling? Just a wild guess at this stage.
  • D6751, which covers six grades of biodiesel (B100) for use as a blend component with middle distillate fuels.
  • D7467, which covers three fuel blend grades of 6 volume percent to 20 volume percent (%) biodiesel.
  • D975, which allows up to 5% biodiesel.
