Additional details below, but we believe it will need a replacement injector pump. **Will need to be towed due to this**
Looking for $2,000 (located Albion Park NSW)
2003 NAVARA D22 ST-R (4x4) MANUAL DUAL CAB P/UP - ZD30 Turbo Diesel
KM’s 277k (17k since engine was rebuilt)
Rego expired 20 February 2025
EGR blank off was done at 150k but it was too late....
Unfortunately, it had a piston failure at 260k, the engine was rebuilt (block/head machined, re bored for oversized pistons etc), new turbo core installed. Ran perfectly after it was rebuilt. Rebuild was done 2017/2018 but it has only done around 17k since the rebuild.
Previous work
- Oil catch can installed
- Electric pump installed before fuel filter
- Diesel overflow bypass mod done as required when installing electric pump
- Aftermarket primer and filter
- Air pre filter removed and replaced with aftermarket pipe (I still have the original pre filter)
All done within the last 500kms
- New heavy-duty clutch installed
- fly wheel machined
- replaced the gearbox and transfer case oil.
- New rear bushes on the leaf springs
- Wheel alignment
- New belt tensioner and belt
- New hoses between turbo and exhaust manifold
I also purchased an aftermarket 7” android auto compatible head unit (with reversing camera) but the car developed issues before it arrived so that has not been installed yet.
Not long after doing the work above the car started having some starting issues after and some fault codes showing up that all point towards the injector pump being on the way out. It did run and drive after this but wouldn't start when hot it would crank and has fuel pressure but it won’t start, leaving it for a couple of hours or overnight and it starts fine. After the initial issue it didn't seen any use other than moving it off the driveway, had a few people come and look at it and it started cutting out after running for a minute or two, it does start straight back up but will continue this. No idea if thats because it has been sitting for a few months now or if its the injector pump getting worse.
It does have an ARB canopy and under rail tub liner, the side windows need to be reinstalled into the frames (one window is a DIY lexan window as the original was smashed in heavy winds. Just installed new locks on the windows, replaced the rear window struts and have new struts for the side windows.
Also has a turbo timer installed.
Would suit someone who can replace the injector pump or is looking for a replacement engine as it has done less than 20k since the rebuild and has had the EGR blanked off that whole period.No intent on portraying the car as anything it is not so will say that the car is 21 years old so the clear coat is peeling on the roof and faded on the bonnet but the phone camera doesn't seem to show that level of detail. Car wasn't used offroad but it was no show car so it has dents / scratches etc you would expect from 21 years of use.
