We were just using round up today, did about 180 acres just targeting broad leaf, we'll probably get the boom out on the tractor next week and do the other paddocks with something a bit less targeted.

I maintain my in laws 45 acres and we use the nav and a 200 lt spray unit with a long wond. Hard work and you really have to trust the driver or hang on for life and death!

We'd usually do it on the farm with the owners Prado when it's a targeted kill but he was in Melbourne for the weekend so it was up to my Nav but it's a relatively small load compared to the fencing gear it was towing around the paddocks back in March so I wasn't overly worried about that.

As for driving there is only one other person who drives any of my cars and if I didn't trust him he wouldn't get in the seat, he spent years getting 4wd's bogged in the open cut mines just so he could film in house training videos to teach employees what to do and not to do when driving in mines, the farm is a walk in the park for him.

Thankfully though that job's over for a few days and the next spray with the boom will be heaps easier. Today I'm back to being PC expert and it's off to solve some networking issues at one of my clients sites.

Wow Krafty, sounds like your a 'jack of all trades'. Normally I get my partner to drive the nav as you have to put her in 4wd. Out of 45 acres I think there is about 2 acres of good ground.

Jack of all trades master of none!

I'm actually a PC/Network tech and web designer by trade and have been for years the other jobs I do are usually to help out mates and keep busy because my business these days supports itself on 2-3 days of work a week and I need something else to do to stop me from going bonkers and getting bored. The farms belongs to a mate who has a more than full time job elsewhere so he pays us to run them. We look after 5 farms and about 400 head of beef only which require little maintenance and he pays all the bills.

Not bad at all.

Web designer hey, might get you to design a site of my partners business one day ;)

Work is just dead here too. We have a small earth moving business.

Yeah no probs I usually have time to take on a new job here and there, I don't actively seek clients these days but if people come to me I try to help them out.

Mate of mine owns a earth moving business and a logging business with all the trucks and gear yet he still chooses to be employed by someone else these days because the money he makes 5 days a week using someone elses gear means he's only got to make his gear work 2 days a week which saves on his costs but still means money is coming in.

Definately know the feeling there. I was thinking about working for RACQ as one of the call out drivers. Give the blokes a run for their money so to speak. Some of them don't know how to jump start a car etc. I think that's a bit piss weak on their part. A good mate of mine does it and can earn up to $1400 a week. So i am definately considering it.

We have that problem with RACV down here, the local guys either don't know what they are doing or they are pretty good at acting dumb. We used to have both mechanics and auto elecs on call for the trucks and they could reach a call out 100ks away within 2 hours of the 2am call out, the RACV idiots take 2 hours to arrive from 10 ks away. I think in all the RACV call out guys do a pretty good job but the ones down here are also the local Subaru dealer so thats enough said

If your nice enough Krafty might even teach you how to do hair cuts and waxes aswell.

Dave.

That makes me feel so much better, you wont feel a thing.

Book me in. Not. Lol.

Dave.

I would so enjoy inflicting pain. Hey could be my part time job lol.

Krafty, I promise I'll leave the fiddly areas for you. PMSL

Don't worry squeak Dave talks tough and metro sexual but deep down he's screaming for a waxing. He'll cry like a baby and try to make you stop be deep down he's loving it. I bet he hasn't told you he's a masochist as well.

Dave wont let me go near the fiddly bits any more, last time I shaped his love heart into a D40 logo and he nearly fell off his llama.

We can tie him down to stop him squirming but don't laugh because he will think we are having fun and wont enjoy himself. He doesn't like seeing others have a good time, that's why he has sex with his eyes closed.

Yeah I wouldn't touch that either, fancy someone coming up with a comment like that, who in their right mind would say a thing like that. Although I notice Dave hasn't defended himself (ignore the fact he's probably at work).
