Are the 22's that much smaller? I'm glad I didn't go for one then, I like room to move and so do my clients.

I had trouble getting my legs under the steering wheel with the seat in the back (and upright) position, and the tray table (oops) Steering Wheel in the upright position ...

Also, my kid is about to turn 5 years old, and as a kinda kid, is as tall a most kids in year 1 (bypassing all prepies) - and as i wanna hang onto this car for a few years, no point in having a car that my kid (who will be tall) cant sit in the back seat. The D40 has a tad more rear seat space than the D22.

Oh, and i just could not get by without the twin power outlets in the D40 dash. i've already installed 2 more in the back for the Kid to use.

From memory the D40 has 175mm more space in the rear than the D22. Might not seem like a lot, but it's the difference between arriving cramped and sore, and still being able to walk.

touche on the rear ...

do you know what the driver's room is like in comparason?

I've driven both and I don't think there's much difference in them in the front. There might be, very likely will spend Sunday on a trail with Dave so I could get the old measure out and look at the differences with seat-forward and seat-back.

*polishes hair dryer* There ya go Krafty, it's all ready to go mate. I'll go heat the wax pots.

Christ, I'm low on emery boards. Dammit, I'll have to use wet and dry.

I never even tried the 22, looked cheap and I didn't want my clients thinking I was cutting corners with looks after all image means a lot in the hair dressing game.

Car seats are my worst problem....I just don't fit in them...actually what I meant was even kidlet in car seat has begun kicking the back of my seat but then it beats the crap out of the Forrestor where I had to have the car seat on the passenger side because the middle meant the drivers seat needed to go to far forward.

I don't know how long I'll be hanging onto this vehicle (50 years with the work I put in making it suit my needs according to the missus) but like you I was hoping it would be big enough for kidlet to remain comfortable for a while to come.

Thanks Tony but don't let out too many secrets Tony it sounds like our little squeak wants a challenge and we don't want to give her any leeway after all she does drive a D21

And my little D21 is getting it's own spit and polish. Have been rebuilding the gearbox and rear diff this week.

:wash_truck: It has more grunt thatn a mates D21 single cab

It's one of the reasons I chose the Navara over its competitors - its towing ability. I wouldn't mind remapping the lock-up of the torque converter a little, but other than that I have no complaints about the car's ability to haul.

It has more torque than my GU Patrol definately tows harder. My partner was in my nav and i was in the patrol going down 3 mile at beauy and the nav was faster off the mark. In the end both were about the same by the finish but wouldnt swap my nav for any thing.

No not even Krafty's hair dryer

Mine's not quick off the mark, the D40s have a bit of turbo lag that is improved a tiny bit by the EGR mod, would be improved much more by a chip but I'm not ready to take that step.

That said, I generally take it slow off the mark anyway (especially when towing) so the lag issue doesn't have that bad an impact.

We moved up from a Commodore - which was a wonderful car, absolutely quiet and smooth but suffered hauling the caravan which at 1.8T was approaching the Commodore's 2.1T towing limit. Our aim was to get a Travelhome 5th wheeler, but now my wife and I both think we'd be better served by getting a Kedron caravan.

Ah the EGR mod, still have to do that to my ZD30 in the Patrol one day soon. When I'm towing big load i do take it slow but when she has no load it's fun to give her a thrashing at times.

The navara must be a chick 'tempermental' at times lol

My hair dryer was on the fritz today so I swapped it for a spray gun, 600 litres of weed killer and a tandem trailer. Might not have been the quickest off the mark around the paddocks but my crappy old D40 did the job and with the red dye in the weed killer Dave's hair would have won the most improved at the Royal Show.
