It's Sunday morning and I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head. It's days like these that I need a little bait to run with for a good **** stir.

The old man bogged the tractor yesterday and was silly enough to ring me and tell me so that's bait enough to run with a **** stir for a few days, if you've got something like that throw it up and I'll use it.

Know the feeling. I have to try to build a horse paddock for a mare due to foal this month. Trying to reach a agreement with my father in law is a bit difficult as to where is the best place. He wants uneven great where as i would prefer flat ground until the foal is about 4 months. Any suggestions?

Not being shy of trying something, I took my salon off-road yesterday and ran it along some muddy tracks.

I managed to fill the front bash plate with thick clay, and slammed the tow hitch down nice and hard on some more clay filling the surrounds with the muck and tearing the little aluminium surround, effectively destroying it.

I'm fairly convinced that I want a 50mm lift now, so that I can clear shopping centre speed humps and clamber over the raised white sections you often see on the roads that are often referred to as "pedestrian crossings".

I'd go flat ground all the way for anything learning to walk. Our paddocks are mountain goat country and we always herd the pregnant cows up into the flatter paddocks for calving. Hills are good for wind protection but they are a bugger for learning to walk even with 4 legs.

We've got to fence 250 acres of bush fire effected paddocks over the summer, about 200 acres of it is flat but the last 50 acres even mountain goats don't like. Those paddocks are only going to be used for the bulls and older cows when they aren't pregnant and we'll only ever be using the dogs for herding to and from that paddock too.

50mm lift would mean I'd never get in the garage. Lift and thrashing around the bush is for cars I don't pay $50K for, mines more than adequate on the farm and as long as I'm not stupid and go beyond it's limits will get me from one end of 180 acres to the other even with 3 tonne of fencing gear in the trailer. I'm not afraid to get mine dirty but I'm also not silly enough to take it somewhere that will either get it bogged or dinged when I can get my hands on other toys that are better suited and don;t cost me the earth to fix.

My mare had a filly tuesday, so she is staying at the stud for a month or so. Wait until the foal is a bit older.

My old 'dinosaur' as Krafty likes to call it towed a 1000lt tank on it's back plus towing a 7x5 cage trailer with 3 full 44 gal drums and she didn't even huff lol. Has towed more but i decided to be nice for a change. (Krafty, don't need any comments from a 'stylist')

Will have to send a pic of her looking her best (covered in mud) ROFL

That's good news squeak (about the filly not about the dinosaur :eviltongue: )

Pfft 1000lt tank my ute tows that much hair styling gel every day, and those combs and scissors weigh alot more than 44 gallon drums (I've got the big set).

I now have that problem Krafty ... the lift plus roof racks means the Nav will never fit in the garage again ...

but it means that i can do a lot more playing OFF road, as for taking the $50K beast into the bush, at least its getting getting well used - but i dont intend to 'abuse' it, just USE it well.

To me garaging is more important that being high because I just don't need it. I took mine for a drive out Mirboo Nth last night and I was thrashing it around the dirt tracks and windy roads for a few hours, even got cow **** splattered up the back guards, sure those roads aren't the kind of tracks the tuff trucks would use but it's good enough for me to play with. If I want serious mud and and bog holes I can find 4WD's that are better suited and don't cost as much to repair.

Welcome daz. Try posting a new thread in the new members forum and throw up your questions in an introduction and maybe some more info about your ride you'll probably get more responses because I think most people have been ignoring this thread given that 3 or 4 of us have been bullshiting on for so long that anything technical or useful has long since died.
