Coil mounts..

Not sure how to mount them to the chassis yet..not keen on just welding 2 bits of pipe to the chassis and then the hoops to those bits of pipe like ive seen others do..

Could have got the longer coilovers:argh:
Heaps more room in the engine bay then what i had expected...they wont come anywhere near sticking out the bonnet.

Joshy your not mad or insane or anything out of the ordinary, to me your alright, a top bloke, just another guy just like me who is serious about
4wding. lol. You know what i mean.

Iv done a solid axle swap on my d22 and the flex is awesome, no thats not the word its crazy awesome and i highly recommend it, would never look back at ifs again, im too waiting for that stupid magazine to get back to me, seems like they drool over photos and not much else.

Anyway keep up the good work, man, uv put in some hours into that car hope all works out in the end and maybe one day when i get 35's we can meet up and go for a photo shoot.

Cheers.

Thanks solid and jason.

yeah be good to have an sas day out. Got king navara (sased nav on 4wda) coming round tomorrow to get my reduction gears.

more work..
First bit of work to the rear while i was on a role with the bender..

Tray is going to sit much higher then i would have liked...almost made the mistake of trying to put the coilovers on a mean angle to keep the mounts lower until i realised then the hydraulics would be pushing against each other and not really lift the car up.

The rear diff will be moved back about 2 inches otherwise ill have to do major panel mods to the rear of the cab, brace is in roughly the position it will stay.

not much room for the spare underneath the tray either...at this stage i wont be chopping the chassis at all.

While i was there i realised theres no room for a 4 link on the rear....

Guna have to at least do a 2" lift on the fuel tank to try and get some space.

You could possibly custom make a smaller tank to fit at the back somewhere lets say only 35-40l and then have a lpg system installed probably only 10l tank, it would be small, and overall outcome would be same amount of kays done as your getting now on less fuel, almost double the power and less tank space in your way.

looking awesome mate cant wait to see the finished product youve even got me thinking about sasing my nav. just a couple of questions mate if you dont mind how long do you reckon your nav will be of the road for and one for my nav i seen you have taken your shockies out to get more flex do you think its possible to drive offroad for a while going up hills and the like with your shockies removed cheers mate

Hadnt thought of sticking a gas tank in. I might be able to just move my whole tank between the cab and the coilover tower, make use of some of that room. Otherwise yeah might make a custom tank to sit it out of the way.

Ah depending when i can afford to buy the next couple of bits it could be driveable again in a month. Alot of the time its just sitting there while i wait for bits and pieces i didnt know id need. If you did it simpler then me, ie just flipped a gu diff or went the calmini kit you could have it done alot faster.

yeah i use to drive all day offroad without the shocks, bit bouncy but the flex i was getting out of the rear was unreal.

You could always get rid of the std navara tank and put in a gq main tank in the rear.. i have pics somewhere, very easy to do with 2 bits of tube and some flatbar.

cheers mark.

sounds like a good idea, wheres it move the tank too?, pics would be good if youve got em.

made up a 4mm fish plate and tacked it to the chassis, then 2 2" 3mm wall rhs welded to that with 1 1/2 holes in the top, finally the 1 1/2 2.5mm wall tube welded into them. havent decided if thats how it will stay, still to be braced and will be ground back and fully welded.

up travel....about 4 1/2"
PA240094.jpg

some of the down travel...
PA240098.jpg

still have to redo the lower mounts so that the joint is sitting central at ride height.

and..
PA240099.jpg

you might have noticed though there are no upper arms yet and the lowers are only 850mm long final ones will be closer to 1500... so im hoping the travel arc will be ok. other wise ill just have to move the rhs over a bit.

Other side in place..

For some reason this side has clearance on down travel..have to work out what i did differently although i thought i used all the same lines/measurements
PA250107.jpg

PA250104.jpg

PA250108.jpg
