hi i was wondering how can you tell if you have a suspension lift kit installed. i have a 2007 d 40 and i have just ordered a 2 inch tough dog suspension kit. how ever after i ordered it i stuck my head under the car and discovered after i wiped the mud away i had a set of tough dog foam cell rear shocks on the back with air bags. the front shocks i cant tell what they are and the springs are black.. . as i dont have a bull bar on it yet i was wondering if the front suspension is stock?.. i have ordered a bull bar which i am getting installed in 2 weeks time. i have been told not to fit the new suspension set up until the bull bar is put on.. however i will have the suspension kit 1 week before i get the bull bar and wanted to fit it as soon as i got it as imm planning a weekend away once the bar is fitted.. any insight into this headache i now have would be appreciated.. thanks.

Go down the car yard and measure same model as yours from bottom of rim to arch of guard if yours is about 2inch higher than the stock one then you have a lift kit already in it...................or of course all the friendly d40 owners on here could post up their measurements.

I believe the height from centre of hub to wheel arch on a stock D40 is 495-515mm.

Mine was 495 front and 500 rear with a fair bit of weight at each end.

P.S watch out for those D22 blokes. They are scoundrels

+1 on measurement.

Watch the air bags - don't over-pressure them. They will restrict the vehicle's flexibility and with a heavy load can cause damage to the chassis if they're inflated too high.

I strongly recommend that you get HD springs up front, not standards. As soon as you put the (50-60Kg) bullbar on the nose of the car, the front suspension will take a dive.

ok thanks . i am taking the air bags out hence the new 2 inch lift kit and are getting the heavier springs on for when i put on the bull bar the following week after doing suspension.
