gutted cat and dpf on 2007 d40 and had no issues for coupleof weeks. the truck is now blowing exceesive white smoke. if i accelarate to around 80 km it clears up but returns if i slow down or come to a stop,i I can aso smell raw disel, Can anyone help?

yes mine too d22 2003 new pipe no cat and same prob - been told injectors might be to blame ....

Hey mate I had the same issue.. I bet there is no dpf light either.. Take it on the motorway and flog it for about 15min drop down to 80kph then boot it to 100 a few times and get the temps up.. After a really good strap you should be sweet

I Have a Gutted CAT and stock DPF in the car at the moment. You Need to do a highway run. No need to thrash just get onto the freeway in low traffic and set cruise for 100kmph. Drive for 30 mins according to nissan learning guide.
I did this and it fixed my issued. I started the other thread on this. Still working on some other ways to get around this CAT DPF mess.
I believe the DPF struggles to clear if your not doing much highspeed driving without a CAT. I beleive its the CAT which provides most of the heat need to Run the Regen. My current theory is you can run no cat with DOF but may need a freeway run to build up enough from time to time for cleaning DPF.

The next problem is that I live on an island that is 166Sq miles with heavy trafficand little highway. The truck seems to be stuck in a regeneration cycle because i'm unable to do a long hard run. Maybe i 'll have take it out around 2.am when the road is clear.

I figured the same and tried that with mine as it worked on another car i had with a DPF. Drove around for 5 or so minutes without stopping with engine at 2500rpm and it didnt work. Maybe needs more time.?
If you read the nissan learning document about DPF's Its fairly clear it wants you to use the "highway" method.
If you cant get it up to speed for long enough i think you'll prob need to install a working CAT to generate enough heat into the exhaust to satisfy the ECM which measures temp at the DPF. Only then will it allow the regen to take place.
In your situation with high speed long distance driving being difficult i think even if you regen your DPF its going to fill again due to the lack of heat in the exhaust when stop start driving around town. A working Cat on your vehicle is mostly likely the best way to cure your problem. Ocne you clear the Regen leave the working CAT in and you can do a DPF delete.
After just going through this exact thing this is my theory anyways.
