EGR blanking - there is a sticky thread in this (D40 Engine) subject area that you would have seen at the top of the list.

DPF removal - have you searched the forum? There seems to be a fair bit of info out there both positive and negative.

What are you trying to achieve ? Are you trying to increase power ? Are you trying to make the system more reliable ? If you say what the problem is you are trying to fix rather than just making broad statements, you will get a better response.

EGR - No brainer, better fuel economy, more low down power, many many have done it without any problems.

DPF - If it's not giving you any problems then just leave it alone, removing the dpf while the ECU still things it's there is going to give you sensor issues. I believe removing it will require a ECU reflash.

ive probably had the mot recent drama with the egr blank..

it caused the whole car to stop working

just make sure that a decent thickness plate made up of decent metal is used and you wont have any problems

EGR Blank = Easy mod.. Just do it.. Make sure you use thick enough steel so that it can't be melted through (IE - Don't use Aluminium!)

DPF - If you want to remove it AND have no issues, PM user Auggie on this site.. He has new recalibrated sensors that make the ECU believe it's ALWAYS hot enough to not have to do a post injection burn.. Thus no DPF light and NO WHITE SMOKE...

It'll even allow you to remove the Cat Convertor too..

Not concerned with power. Just want it to more reliable

I used a decent quality stainless putty knife for my EGR blanking plate. Be careful with stainless though - it work-hardens and will stuff your drill bits quick smart.

Been in there 4 years, and after Jimmy-Jay's problems I removed it on the weekend for inspection. The amount of soot built up was removeable with a swipe of my finger, and no signs of erosion or distortion.
