That would suck, what repairs??? Warranty??

Wow!!!:wristy:
I say go and get that yota, i really hope it doesnt give you any trouble or you will be left with a Triton :rofl2:

$14K worth of repairs is a fair kick in the arse. Would be interesting to see the repairs list.

And good luck with that bus.

I brought the car to tow a boat. Heavy duty exceedy clutch $2400/under warranty had to pay diesiel specialist to diaignois turbo problems aftergoing to nissen 3 times.Problem was fixed but had to chip the car to give it enough touque to pull boat up a ramp $2100/fuel rail& injector tubes $2200/cracked exhaust manifold $1550/ injectors $4000/maf sensor $ turbo boost solanoid had the car at nissan 3 times and back to diesel specialist again $920 nobody else touches my car now,he tells me all CRD are having problems & he believes it is caused by low sulpher/no lubicant. My mistake only $13170 ha ha

Looking at that list I'd buy a Toyota too. But let me offer one piece of advice with the Toyota purchase:

Buy an automatic.

If you're hauling a heavy weight with ANY manual vehicle, the clutch is going to suffer. Dual-mass flywheel (DMF)-equipped vehicles suffer more, because the flywheel doesn't shed heat like it should and the clutch face cooks clutches fast.

The other reason for an automatic: the Toyota is underpowered, which means you'll be riding the clutch even more, and that'll make the clutch suffer a lot worse.

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your D40!

If you bought the car to just tow a boat, should have done some research before buying it. Come in here, to a Nissan forum and say that its a piece of shit? Can only put that down to how you drive it, or the way it was treated before you bought it. Fuck off mate and buy your toyota

It sounds like you bought the wrong spec vehicle for towing your heavy boat (manual and not enough power) then you chipped it (badly) which contributed to the engine problems.

If you wanted a D40 for heavy towing then you should really have bought the V6 diesel with auto.

brought car new cockhead

As i said before, you didn't do your research then very well did you? If i was buying a new car, i would want to know as much as possible about it before handing over my hard-earned. Autos are good for towing, as said previously because of the single mass fly wheel. Funny how a lot of people on here don't have any issues. eveything you have mentioned on here should be covered by warranty. Are you out of pocket for all of the expenses? You dont have to take it back to the same dealer to have it looked at, maybe try another one? and Cockhead? Your the one acting like a muppet. I get that you have the shits, and you are entitled to vent, but if your having issues with a Nissan, then a toyota isn't going to leave you very happy either. There are some blokes on this forum that know a shitload about these engines, more than ill ever know. Maybe im suggesting that instead of blowing your top off, you read into things a bit more. Might be a bit late for that now, but it may have saved you the headaches you have had.

When i read this today on my phone i near pissed myself!!! serious i almost fell off the roof i was working on......... FARKING HILARIOUS!!!! :congrats:

My brother has had Toyota puss lux last years model and even he has problems 2 busted clutches and one diff and he doesnt even tow anything. bought same time as I bought my d40, if ask me his is the heap of shit as mine has not been in once yet. So you do the math. All new cars have problems. An as everyone has said do your research. How bigs your boat there not built to tow the titanic. I tow a camping trailer along Stockton beach nearly every second weekend never had an issue at all.

I know it's easy to be an armchair critic with this but as mentioned an Auto would of been a better choice for towing.
Did the injection problems start after the chip went in or before?

The problem with the majority of these utes, is that combined with the high gearing and big wheels, they develop the torque way too high for a manual to be a good tow vehicle for hill starts. Its a shame that an engine like the cruisers v8 isn't available. (max torque comes on at around 1200 rpm rather than the 2000 rpm we get)

The only option it leaves us is dropping into 4low, or giving the clutch a hard time.

or be pathetic and by a Auto.

Comments I hate
"Buy an auto, its the right tool for the job" - real trucks are manual.
Salesman telling me "you cant get a auto v6TD because nobody makes a clutch good enough", Yet I can go buy a Commodore or XR6/XR8 Manual, and they all deliver a shit load of torque
