Hello fellow Navara fans.

I have a European D22, sold here as an NP300 as seems like Navara changed over to D40 around 2005.

Its a 2008 model, engine is YD25DDTi
and VIN - JN1BPUD22U0150744

Where is actually my car Manufactured? and is this the common rail engine?
Can this be the Detuned D40 engine? as appears they have quite favorable injection system.
mine is rated at 98KW or 133 hp.

I've had it for many years now and planning to keep this around for a long time. its a fantastic pickup and mine is in great condition mechanical wise, but I want to add some more power.
I'm considering ECU from ECU-SHOP, but no idea what I actually need yet, any experience with them or other options for tuning these engines?

Would love to install a more efficient turbo, but that would be wasted if I don't figure out the diesel supply side first.

Thanks for any input.

Best regards
Chris

2008 would be the first of the common rail injected d22's. basically a detuned d40 yd25 with a wastegated turbo instead of variable.
you should be able to find a chip, ecu flash etc. however fuel is bad for the engine if you don't have enough air.
i highly recommend a decent intercooler upgrade. the factory ones tend to leak. also upgrade to a variable turbo.

Hey, Thanks for the response.

How will it work with a Variable Turbo when car does not have one originally? Can the ECU control it?

If first going for upgraded turbo was thinking more like Holset HX30 or something similar, not sure if that's overkill or a good fit, but seem to have alot of potential and somewhat commonly used on diesels around this size.

Yeah do agree its probably time for intercooler if starting any upgrades, not only is it quite small, but would be nice to get it away from top of the engine.

just a quick look at that turbo it seams way way to big. it seams to be used on 4 litre engines.

there is a couple different ways to control a variable turbo. the easiest is to use a vacuum controlled turbo which is stock on many of the 2.5 engines.
i would start by looking at the turbo and manifold off the D40 yd25's. hopefully thats a simple bolt on. add control valve for the turbo, fit the exhaust up, intake pipes and intercooler, then chip for some fuel.

it would be interesting to see how close the ecu is to the D40 ecu's. if anyone has done an ecu swap.
