were is best place for ignition source

hi im just wondering were in the best place to get a ignition source to wire a gauge to so it turns on when you have car running in a 2003 zd30 d22 navara just wondering

The other option is to take the plastic shrouds off the steering column and find the relevant wire, carefully expose a section of the insulation (you don't need to strip it all the way around the circumference) and solder a wire off that nearer to the switch area then wrap insulation tape around it to isolate the join.

Is there anything under the bonnet on a zd30 that is easy to take ignition source trigger from on ZD30? Preferably driver's side.
