Hi everyone,
My car has just over 190,000 km on the odometer, and I’m wondering if it’s time to check the timing chain. My mechanic recommended replacing it at 200,000 km without performing any checks, but since replacing it requires pulling the engine and is quite expensive, I’d prefer to inspect it myself first. From what I’ve read on the forum, there doesn’t seem to be a set interval for the chain—it’s more of an "inspect and replace if necessary" situation.
Here’s what I have available:
Thanks in advance!

Here’s what I have available:
- Basic tools, and access to borrow additional tools if needed
- A garage with a pit that allows me to work underneath the car
Thanks in advance!
