Hello everyone. I do apologize for not introducing myself first, I have been lurking the forums for a few months and have found all the information I need up until now.
I took a drive from Melbourne to Adelaide yesterday and when I got off the highway I noticed my tires are screeching something shocking around low speed corners. It sounds like I'm ripping skids everywhere
I checked the tires today and the rears have lost a fair bit of tread and are now down to the wear indicator. I'm hoping I have just enough cash to get a new set before I head back to Melbourne on Wednesday (was hoping to get a couple months out of them still).
My main concern is that it feels like the rear diff is locking up. Ended up driving the last stretch like old granny around corners and if I go slow enough I think I can feel the inside rear tyre dragging like it would with a welded diff. I'm really hoping its just because the tires have bit the dust, I can't afford to have the diff looked at now and I don't have my tools
So my question is, is it possible that the diff has seized up? The vehicle is an 03 str with 167k on the clock. I'm not sure when the diff oil was changed last and the only tools I brought with me is a socket set.
Thanks in advance for your help.
