Along the arroyo on the canyon floor, turkey vultures roosted along the edge drying their wings from the night's rains.

September is the best month to go to Chaco, or just about anywhere in the South Western United States.
Everything is at its greenest here, most of the blossoms are and wildlife are out this time of year.
The rains drift in and out.
This is one of the arroyos the eat through the canyon floor of Chaco Canyon.

Before they "improved" the roads into Chaco Canyon from the east, you would see this land mark on your way in.

This and the last pic are of a ruin that you have to hike up out of the canyon to get to.

Chacoan outlier 30 miles to the south of Chaco Canyon.

One of the Chacoan outliers is as far away from Chaco Canyon itself as Bluff, Utah.
Not much to look at, a small portion of wall was dug out and then sheltered with a roof and walls.
The surroundings however were very pleasing to the senses.
