Thats what all my Grand Canyon shots look like, bright mid day light. I should have went the next day when I was in Flagstaff and there were storm clouds moving in.
Looking down from those switchbacks you would be able to see a silver mine cave and a small shack if you were to look are enough, not shown in the image above but it is not far out of frame. Here is the shack from up close.
In the above image, taken from high up on the ridge of Montana Mountain, you can see a distinctive shadow in the center left. That shadow is Byous Butte.
Another view from a lower vantage point zoomed in, taken on a day with a lot of dust in the air.
Roblas Butte and Byous Butte are very close together but separated by less distinctive rock formations. Some of my images give the impression that they are not as high as they actually are, such as the image below makes it look like a little out cropping. The images from a distance do a much better job of perspective.
Roblas Butte Pano.
At the foot of Picketpost Mountain just outside of Superior, AZ there is Boyce Thompson Arboretum. As arboretums go its probably one of the most interesting in the world, but I don't get out much so its just my guess.
Here are some images from that location.
They have cacti from all over the world, I am not sure what kind this is but it looks like a faceplant to me.
Get there early and you may see the vultures warming their wings for a day of foraging.
