10 years doing 12hr night shifts in heavy manufacturing was enuff for me
6 mths now since I was medically terminated and I still haven't got my sleep pattern back to normall
Nightshift sux.

Yep, nightshifts can be pretty crap. My body clock is absolutely screwed from it. Oh dear medically terminated, that's not good!

Sparky. Thanks... it's a hard one cause you gotta keep moving without aggravating it anymore.

But people live through worse so I might just try HTFU

Yep, I had a back injury about a year and a half ago, was on compo for a bit and it hasn't been the same since...still a lot better than it was though.

Gotta keep moving forward, there's always someone worse off...well that's what I tell myself anyway.

Rehab and retraining is a loooooong road and workers comp does not pay good
I have lost a 100k job due to severe negligence so I am pretty dirty about it still, ..but life
goes on, i got a great mrs and family and a good bunch of mates
cheers
...and more time to work on the nav!
Have fun at work everyone!!! I'm still in bed and I have 2 days off FTW!! :p
I hate you.

Oh and for everyone talking about back issues 7yrs as a vet nurse and u start praying for people to buy small White fluffy dogs coz your back doesn't enjoy lifting 100kilo Great Danes on to an operating theatre table..

Try your luck with a 250+ kg person.

I love Great danes!
^^with screws and plates in my spine I struggle picking up a wet towel
not looking for sympathy... don't want it.........just reminding people to look after there backs cause once it lets go there is NO turning back
cheers
So true ^

Does it help that I go back out for a swing (7 days) on Thursday arvo then have 5 weeks offs?

Btw ladies give me a couple of weeks and might be able to get some pink and purple vinyl.

5 weeks off! Oh what I'd give :(
On the up side, I spontaneously booked a holiday to Bali last night haha...have to wait for Feb though :(

I'm not sure about the one on the back. Might need re-doing or different one.

^^ hey mate
theres a little kid in the back of your ute
looks like he is pissing off with your tools:rofl:

that brings back memories
b4 my n/shift work I spent 12 years as an air con technician
crawling through roof spaces dragging cables and copper pipe is not fun
getting control wires down a wall, almost as bad as being a plumber
especially in summer when roof cavities can reach 60+,
What sort of sparkie mate, commercial, ind or domestic?

Lol I've been there and done that in years 1 and 2 of my apprenticeship. Jumped in a roof to install a powerpoint for an evap cooler on a 40deg day.

I am back in commercial now. We do mechanical electrical which is commercial air con and exhaust fan systems. We also do BAS/DDC which is the control side of the air con.

At the moment I'm one out running a 13 story DDC job in Melbourne CBD... It's actually good to be back at work on wages on site.

As some of you may recall, I was made redundant in April and was subbying trough until end of August when my boss made good on his promise and took me back on when they picked up a lot more work (probably helped two blokes breaking legs and one doing a knee dirt bike riding, playing rugby and footy respectively)

That's great you are back on the tools, I miss site work and wish I had never taken on the shiftwork 10 years ago, I should have stayed where I was
My most interesting site work was being involved in the ventilation and air con for an underground power station in the gulf (military base)
I also used to do 14 day service runs on telecom towers all over the gulf country, great job, great lifestyle
Never was a big fan of big building sites like hospitals ect..too many ******s walking around playing "safety sam" trying to justify there position

anyway
