Im planing a long dive around this open land i have a campomatic behind with electric brakes already
What to add is my issue
Looking at canopys good value and good price ( arnt we all )
Also want to make my own draws for the rear with fridge slide. I plan on putting a spare batt in rear also What spare batt system

Welcome to the forum!

Can I point out something obvious, and that's "get a solar panel". A $400 80W panel with a $200 regulator will (in summer) restore 30 amps at least to your batteries.

Add to that a system that uses a decent battery charger and you'll have no trouble with power. Our caravan has a 64W and an 80W panel on the roof (we run a 12V 7A Waeco 140L refrigerator). We also use a C-Tek MultiXS 7000 battery charger running from an inverter, the inverter is powered by the Navara through the AUX BAT connector.

The reason for the inverter gizmo is to ensure that my deep cycle batteries get a FULL charge. Charging from the 14.4V available through the alternator won't suffice, as it will only allow the batteries to reach 70-75% of their full charge. Since I should only discharge a battery to 50% of its capacity, I'd be left with 20-25% of the battery's capacity and that just won't do.

So I have 12V from car through the trailer plug into an inverter which supplies 240V to a C-Tek charger that then fully charges and maintains the "house" battery.

I am doing the same thing in my tub. The inverter/charger doesn't really take a lot of room and gives me double the usable capacity.

I think the D22 has a 90A alternator. I also recall working out that with lights going, you'd be using around 55A, leaving you 35A (at cruise speed, of course). My Inverter/C-Tek gizmo only draws around 10A, so even with two of those, you're 15A in the clear.

Thanks Tony
Great idea
I should have mentioned the trailer has a 80w solar on it already
i was trying to use that as a reserve power but your idea of the inverter / charger seems to cover all the bases
Thanks Again
Keep the ideas coming

helps if you tell us where you are located so to give you some local places to get a good deal... :)

Keep your eye on ebay for canopies, they pop up on there all the time, although if you bought a brand new I believe the newer ones have a longer tray so make sure its the right one.
Enjoy it mate, they are a great vehicle, almost as good as a D40 even, that should stir up a hornets nest haha

Just to help if you now adeal
Im in melbourne
As for canopy i dont mind new unit
Its just sorting out what brand / features
I think a lift upside window would be handy on the passanger side
As for the driver side the extra fridge will be there so the slide will not be an issue

Again thanks for the suggestion

g'day and welcome,
if you have a 09 d22 the back is longer but arb have canopy's for around $2200 for the ruff finish or $2600ish for the smooth finish im getting one put on very soon with a steel rack on top. there is also tjm or flexiglass. but i would go with arb or tjm my preferens.

I have the Flexiglass smooth highroof canopy on my D40. You can option 'any' canopy with side lift up windows i think - its an option when you 'order' your canopy.
