Removing back bumper

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has removed there back bumper permanently and what have they done instead of having it there, im thinking of putting checked plated aliminum over it to make it look neater, has anyone ever done it?

mines off atm zac, looks pretty messy but im getting a checker plate for it soon, only thing is how low the towbar hangs, ive been searching for a dx towbar to chuck on as the dx models didnt have the chrome rear bar.
