Hi all, I have installed for over a year or so now a set of Radflo coilovers from 4x4 USA for my Nav D40. The issue I have that they seem rather stiff and when I ordered these I got the 600lb/ft ratio ones for the bull bar/winch but not thinking in the USA they have V8's in their Frontiers not 4's. Rock hard setup.

I'm currently over in WA and was needing some feedback in regards to whats best and who could possible give me any idea for a better spring/recoil for these Eibach springs up front of my rig. Currently when I hit a bump I head butt the roof and the whole car is rigid as definitely not a smooth cushion like I expect.

Cheers.

I run the same shock in my 4x2 and I have 500lb springs and they are only just strong enough. Being a 4x2 I can get away with it. On a 4x4 I think 600lb would be about right. Whats the part number on the spring. When I first got mine I had 700lb springs and mine tried to launch off speed bumps
the pic below is the old 700 lb springs
1200-250-0700 with that equating to 12 inches long , 2.5 inches dia and 700lb spring rate

How high have you lifted the truck with the struts?

Im running 650s on mine and rides sweet as. It is reasonably firm but I prefer that for on road handling. I noticed it softened slightly when I put the bar on but barely noticeable. As Aussie asked how much lift are you running. If your higher than 2.5" then its gonna be fairly stiff. Rather than changing out coilovers maybe consider taking some preload off the springs and put in spacers to compensate. To be honest I doubt youll get anything that rides much better in Perth. Everyone will try sell ya OME or TD or the like. The trouble with those setups is the shocks are generic valving for all springs rates. One other thing is if you got them from 4wdUSA they may have got them direct from Radflo and not from PRG. Greg charges his shocks for the Nav at 200psi. If theyre from Radflo they may be higher valving. Im just speculating of course. Oh yeah, no V8 option in Frontiers, only Pathfinders.

Hey thanks for the replies guys.

Just did the double check and mine are the 700lbs like yours Aussie rigid buggers. I already did the spacer reduce preload trick and yeah a little was reduced Matstx. Yep got them from 4WDUSA as I could never get hold of Greg at that time.

So....... what do you think my next plan of attack should be. Look its a great firm on the road but as I want to start doing a fair bit off road they definitely need a smoother ride. I can't leave the car out of action as we only have one so maybe order 600lbs and get them fitted? or check the valving? either way any one in WA do this properly?

Thanks in advance gents.

I think the 700lb springs might be a bit too stiff.
650lb might be better. You could try getting hold of Glenn at Radflo and getting some advice from him. He will know best as he designed the damm things lol. Eibach springs can be bought from a number of places and from memory there is actually a stockist here in Aus .

where in WA are you?

if you are near osborne park i have a contact at WA suspensions who will look after you

These guys are great. Dealt with them a couple of times and have had nothing but great service. 700lb definately too stiff, especially if you have no bar on it. 600 sounds like a go or even 550 if you want softer.

Thanks guys will give WA suspension a call and see what I can do about getting these swapped out. Will keep all updated once completed.
