yeah that one. ours is 2004 and not a huge amount of kms. but probably hit some muddy water a bit hard at some stage on the border track trip as thats where it started on the way home?

did one on my old patrol was easy but there was a lot more room..
looks like in the navara you will need to take the fan and maybe even the radiator out to make it easier. just the one bolt if i'm not wrong it was 38mm or 1 1/5inch something like that for the crankshaft nut.. pulley puller and just use a pick and pull the seal out.. put everything back.. took my almost a whole day as the nut was a bit of a pain to take out.. i think if you have access to a rattle gun it might make it a lot easier.

Yeah its all degreased and ready to leak to show me where it is. Pain in the butt but (aha) I would rather get it fixed then leave it!!!

cars, love and hate relationships for sure! theres a rattle gun here, worth its weight in gold for sure 
i think it wont b to difficult by the sounds, just getting to it. few bits and pieces r already off at the min in the search for the leak. so tiny part of the way there i guess.

Has anyone ever replaced a sump gasket or know what is involved in getting to the prick? I heard it comes in about 4 pieces and clips together?
Have had the leak for a few months now, started straight after wheeling through thick mud and deep water, bottoming out on the front end numerous times.
I have degreased it twice, and only appears to be coming from the front of the sump. Have tightened the bolts and didnt seem to make any difference. Once the oil starts to appear around the sump, I have run my fingers above the sump along the block and dont get any on my fingers so this is why I am thinking sump gasket?

I don't know the exact model you have, but the turbo diesel D22 instructions for replacing the sump gasket - which is a single piece unit - are as follows:
1. Remove undercover
2. Drain engine oil
3. Remove front propeller shaft from front differential carrier
4. Remove front drive shaft fixing bolts (RH & LH)
5. Remove front suspension crossmember
6. Remove differential front mounting bolts (RH & LH) and rear mounting bolts
7. Remove front differential carrier
8. Remove front differential carrier mounting bracket
9. Remove transmission to rear engine mounting bracket nuts (RH & LH)
10. Remove engine mounting bolts or nuts (RH & LH)
11. Lift up engine. If necessary, disconnect exhaust tube
12. Remove oil pan.
There is a specific order to remove the bolts in, which probably should be followed. Easiest way for you to do this is to grab the D22 manual (it's a download you can find in a stickied thread, go in and grab the Zip file), open the service manual, go into EM.PDF and head to page 138.
