hey every one im just wondering if any body knows if putting longer rear leafs in will give me more flex if any one can help would be great

all so any info on inverting rear shocks in a d22 aswell how much work is in volved

Hey mate, longer leaves will give you more wheel travel. Good luck finding them though. Im going to have a chat to the local spring guy about maybe making a set and see what he suggests.

Also, inverting the rear shocks is not that straight forward. You would need to weld new shock mounts on the diff, weld in a new cross member probably between chassis rails that have the top mounts in towards the centre. Then you would need to find the right sized shocks to suit.

Not sure if all that would be legal without an engineers check also.. Would also want to work your leaf springs to work with the inverted shocks.

Yetti,

have you looked at drop shackles from superior engineering?

From what i read about drop shackles is they give you longer wheel travel however there is no spring force or weight force acting on the tyre, so it wont help much apart from look good.

Anyone else confirm what drop shackles are like?

Pete

I would have thought that getting a longer main leaf along with extended shackles would all u need to give u reasonable wheel travel in the rear..... + longer shocks of course....?

yea i have looked at drop shackles but wats the point when its a daily driver and family car as for welding a cross member i wouldnt worry to much about the engerrniring cert as the wouldnt see it under the tub
i just thort if i put longer leafs in it would give me a better shackle angle

If you do invert your shocks keep us posted. I love to see how it comes together and how it improves the rear.

i played around with the springs to day rmoved the long thick load leaf and added another main leaf seems to work really good

What leaf setup have you got?? Raised leafs, extended shackles...etc

It does have good flex, mine is about the same just with extended shackles

Nah that wheel is still on the ground in the photo it has extended shackles in it
Dont have any photos of the spring pack unforntetly the one spring i added had more of a curve then standard one like i said remove the long load spring add a main leaf and keep the short load leaf i reckon ill get more once i invert the shocks

im trying to get time to do something similer make 2 sets of standard springs into 1 except for the eye leaf's of course is that what your talking about here

Yea mat i just left the eye leaf in with the other standard spring then added a leaf from a nother leaf pack i took out the load leaf
