easy enough. i think i took the steering column plastic off first as that makes it easier pulling the dash bit out, but its not necessary. a few screws etc hold the black gauge surround, then undo the screws holding the gauge cluster, pull it out a bit and tip it forward and i think you can get to the bulbs without pulling it right out.
however i found bulbs where hard to get out so unplug the couple plugs out the back and the whole cluster can come out. twist the bulbs holders out. the tricky part is prising the little bulbs out of the holders without breaking the holders.

i'll have to go double check, i think i'm missing a step somewhere.

have you found brighter globes though???? i'm going to take my cluster off soon and have a play and see if i can upgrade them or add extras or whatever works to get it brighter

the stock wattage is fine. the problem is that they 'silver up' over time. ie they get a grey coating on the inside of them which makes them dull. the curse is that they are an odd wattage for that size hence a little hard to find.
its only 2 bulbs that light it all up rather than the older dash which had about 6 bulbs for the same thing.

also because of the 'light spreader' arrangement it has it makes it hard to get led's to work as most fire light forwards not sideways.

i think its the pre 2000 that has 6 or so. those with TD27 and QD32 have different instrument clusters than the later ones.

no i doubt it

the light bulbs in the dash fire the light sideways so you need an LED that also does that. that led looks like it fires forward.

nearest i've seen is

Bugger did double check this thread and went ahead and got the 10 led's, oh well only cost me $5.49. They stuffed their listing up, i should have payed $55.49
