I used to drink a fair bit on fishing trips but I've mellowed, just can't be stuffed doing it anymore. These days unless I was going for more than a few days I doubt I'd even bother with the fridge. The Ice packs are always in the freezer and dropping them in the big blue box along with some food and drinks is just easier than getting the fridge organised because we don't keep the fridge running at all times.

We haven't tested the 15 day thing but we have had the ice packs last for 5 days so far and given the cost was less than $200 for the lot I'd definitely have to think hard if i was ever to replace the fridge.

You mean dry ice packs? I've ha mine in my chillco cooler box for 7 days fine.

Nah they aren't dry ice they are chemical ice though, just water with a chemical added that will take the ice blocks down to about -18 (if your freezer allows it), dry ice would go further than -18.

Ahh ok, yeah some of ours have the name Techni Ice on them. No idea if they are the same ones but is they are they are good and if used correctly they nearly make a fridge obsolete for camping.

Yeap they are the ones. Just soak them in wter an chuck em in the esky. They are pretty awesome....

I was using 2 in my plain old 33l Willow esky while at the farm a few weeks ago and even in 30+ degrees and opening and closing it on and off to get drinks out the ice packs lasted 2 days without thawing so whacking them in those newer cold box things can only be a good move.

Gotta love BCF though, big sale on one of their brand cold boxes, $320 on special for the 60l, we paid $120 and got the same thing with a different sticker on it delivered to our door.

Oh I know. My chillco 60 ltr was $140.00 with 8 of those I've packs. Delivered. Doubles up as a nice seating bench too. Can't add on cushion for 60

That might be the same brand we got, I can't remember. They make a good foot rest in the boat too.

Oh yeah i forget most of those days are public holidays too, even when I worked for someone else I used to work most of Easter weekend, was only the last two years I was delivering bread where they made Easter Sunday a day of no trade, up until then we delivered every day in holiday regions.
