Going slightly off topic but any of you guys got your tyres on the sunraysias? Or just on stock alloys. Just seeing the right offset think original Spain wheels are +30 and most steelies are about +20 which from my understanding brings the wheel fraction more out (away from chassis)?

Haha dont stress mate. Nathan does some full on offroading on 33's, i do alot of touring on 33's. He has broken several diffs, i have broken none. All depends on your application.

Pick which life your Nav will have and buy tyres to suit. Easy :)

Lol Good to know just got me bit worried 😰😄

Don't think I'll be getting into the hardcore stuff guess if I do I'll look into the mods to fix it.

I'm set on the 33s now, just impatiently waiting on some funds to come through lol

Dont get me wrong mine still did some really awesome tracks before i had problems and i was out just about every weekend pushing it much further then most of the guys i was wheeling with in Hiluxs, tritons and even a few trols and cruisers, not saying those cars couldnt of made it but they didnt even want to have a crack.
Maybe i was just asking to much from the nav??
I still think they are a good ute and i have been out and watched guys in 80 and 60 series cruiser snapping cv's on tracks that i did the same day so all 4x4's will let go at some point weather from miss use or an unlucky hit or from simple wear and tear.

Lol Good to know there pretty capable off-road as haven't done too much with mine as yet, still to stock.

But your right, nothing's unbreakable, all cars will break something depending how hard you push them.

Ok so Finally fitted today some 33's.

And yes the 16's do just clear the callipers so only the 550 I'm guessing which won't clear them.
So far seem pretty good haven't been on freeway but at 80kms aren't that loud at all and haven't noticed anything too ridiculous in take off as yet, will find out with trailer hooked up tomorrow though. Time will tell with wear rate. Happy with the heap of extra diff clearance though 😄

Few pics of how she sits now

Ahh you got your 33's. Very nice! Yeah you notice the lag a little bit but not much at all. I did notice a bee's doodle of a change in fuel consumption but after doing the exhaust etc, it's all sweet.

Yeah to be honest haven't noticed a big change at all with take off. I'm guessing I might with the trailer but don't think nothing major. Expecting to sacrifice a bit of petrol but think I will justify it with all the positives lol
Thanks for your help also by the way, was a bit scared to go 33's but so far very happy I did and also with the insurance broker you recommended covering all the mods is great!

All good buddy that's why we are all here! I towed a small ski boat with the 33's, still not that bad at all really. Not sure about petrol engines as mines a TD.

Thanks mate! Yeah have the TD also 2013 ST. Actually towed it this morning noticed had to go bit heavier on the brakes and the bit extra lag on take off but nothing extreme, so pretty happy so far.

Finally tested a full tank of diesel to see the difference in kms since fitting the 33's.

I had about 570kms on the trip meter with about 40kms remaining plus adding the difference of wheel diameter just over %9 larger would come to roughly 660kms. That's about %50 highway/city driving and at least %50 towing a trady trailer.

End conclusion I think I've only lost as an estimate about 40-50kms per tank wich isn't to bad at all so pretty happy.

Definitely we'll worth it.

Hey guys awesome thread with good advice. Im looking at going 33's and 2inch lift. is this legal in Victoria? If not can you get a certification to be legal. From NZ and the laws are alot less strict over there lol. Cheers or the advice.

Na mate although you can go 32's legally (265/75/16).

Overall diameter from standard is max 50mm in Victoria and 33's are close to 70mm over standard.

"2" suspension lift is legal (new shocks and springs)

Athough not spacers or body lift.

Cheers

Cheers mate might have to go with the 32's.

Don't want any issue with insurance should the worst happen.

In saying all that, i have 3" lift on my D40 with 33's. Even been pulled over for random breatho's, cops dont look at it twice. Even had the highway patrol here in Knox look at it a few times, they aren't too interested.

They are too busy scanning rego's, breatho'ing people, catching "hoons" and raising general revenue to care about 4WD's much mate. As long as your car looks respectable and well looked after, the cops don't look at you.

But in saying THAT, no it's not "legal". But it's up to you. I've had 33"s for over a year now and never had troubles. Just drive sensibly and safely. Im 29, had my license since 18, never had a fine of any kind, and always had my 12 points on my license. And my last two cars were bloody fast V8's. It's all about the way you drive. Don't bring yourself attention and it'll be fine.

Performance wise, noticed a TINY bit of difference, but stuff all. As i don't really rev my Nav over 2200 revs, i don't notice the change in fuel economy or performance.

I'd never go back to smaller tyres.

Ya mum's bum

Lol nicely said cobez. We'll only had mine on now for about a month and definitely wouldn't go back. Same setup "2" suspension, "1" body lift only pulled over once for breath test but they didn't look twice. As said car looks clean and being 32 years old with my two kids in the back they don't care. Only noticed slight lag in take off as the manuals have anyway and slight drop in fuel consumption although is more when towing my trailer but only minor.

Definitely worth it!
