I agree. It's not just the independants that have the problems. Alot of the bigger companies are just as at fault. A thread would be great that way we can all avoid expensive repair bills

i think that if you ever had to make a claim regarding bad diesel you would stand a better chance with a major company, they dont like bad publicity and a small claim is really irrelavent to them
the independant will always be doing it hard and would try to avoid a claim at all costs
i try to only fuel up at the one local servo, and always try to purchase diesel from a large servo when away from home
i will check my insurance(allianz) and if they dont cover engine repairs/ bad fuel i will change to one that does
cheers

i think there should be a thread that everyone who has had dirty fuel can post where they got it

While that seems like a great idea at the outset, the problem for the forum is that it only needs ONE of those service stations to start legal action against the forum owner for allowing that sort of info and this entire site goes bye- bye.

And as we've recently seen, the Australian courts DO consider the site owner responsible for the comments of its visitors. When that decision gets overturned, THEN we can visit the idea without fear of repercussion.

Suncorp do, I asked a while ago.
A list of insurance companies that cover it may be a safer and helpful one.

let me know how u get on with bad fuel insurance cover, im also with allianz

i changed to nrma today
they cover for off road use when car is being used recreationally
(not for motorsport,or competitions) and in a legal manner
ie if i get stuck on river crossing and ingest water its covered

and will cover bad fuel damage (allianz says its a grey area)

and all extras covered without having to declare them
$38 k agreed value is $960 p/a

Hi all,
I went to start my car(2010 D22 STR) this morning and the engine malfunction light came on. The car idles fine but will not allow me accelarate and drive(safe mode).
The car is a year old with 20k on the clock. I tried the fuel filter clean process incase of water as says in the book but no change.
I then rang the local nissan dealership and they said it needed to be put on the computer to find the fault codes and so i had it towed there.
4 hours later the service guy rang me and said it was showing an injector or injector pump issue and the problem was caused by bad fuel.I filled up 4 days ago and have gone through half a tank with no issues all week.He then said that this will not be covered under warranty.
Thats the bit i dont believe and feel they are trying to get away from an expensive fix
any thoughts or steps i should take to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Also, they are first trying to dump the fuel and clean the fuel system to see if that fixes it
cheers

good luck i had the same problem wher my 2009 d22 was only a month oldlimp mode nissan blaming bad fuel etc didnt have a leg to stand on because they draind the tank befor i got a chance to argue charged me $350 to drain tank new filter and 20 leters of (clean fuel )servo said that had no other complaints about his fuel and was selling over 5000 liters every day so no luck for me there and here is the kicker since that time because as nissan trys to say i put bad fuel in carif there were to be a problem with fuel pump or fuel system that would normaly be covered under warranty then it wouldn't be covered because "I"PUT BAD FUEL IN THE TRUCK .prity good way to get out of replacing a $5000 fuel pump etc dont ya think thats why i will never buy a new nissan ever again
