Black smoke - soot on turbo

Howdy,
I’ve been blowing a good amount of black smoke through the lower rpm’s, especially when taking off

Replaced fuel filter, blocked egr, however I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of soot on the outside of the turbo, on the intake side. Could there be a leak or is this normal?

Looks like a fairly decent exhaust leak, which would reduce the turbocharger's effectiveness producing more black smoke than normal.

It should be easy to spot in the joins between the turbo and the exhaust manifold, but check the EGR tube as well, it's a thin tube and prone to cracking or burning holes through in some models.
