Hey guys first post ever and is unfortunately on a bad note

I am wondering if anyone has been fed the old this isnt covered under warranty bullshit. I was driving down the pacific motorway and my car made a wierd noise and went in to limp mode at 110 kph, the car was overheating so i pulled over waited half an hour and checked the coolant. I thought i lost a spring out of the radiator cap so my dad bought a new one from supercheap filled it up with coolant, drove 10ks the same thing happened parked it on a vacant block of land with the wheels on the gutter to give clearance to check underneath. Took the sneeze tray (what nissan calls a bashplate) off piece of shit btw and checked for loose hoses cracks in radiator tank saw nothing. So nissan towed it away. Dealer called and fed me a bunch of garbage saying an accident or impact caused the radiator to come off the mounting brackets and because there is risidual dirt from about 3 months ago so it is from offroading, naturally i told him where to go so after my discussion with the service manager they promised they would look in to it further. The radiator specialist could not find anything wrong with the radiator so i said if you dont know what is wrong with it then how can u say its not covered under your poor excuse of a warranty. Was promised calls back but never did so drove 130km to talk to the manager who could not show me any evidence of an impact. Sneeze guard in tacked just some scratches. Anyway nothing for about a week then after repeated calls they advise that the head gasket has blown and a cracked head possibly and until they find out the cause i may have to pay. So i am going down tommorow to get a resolution. Has anyone had any luck with this faggotry that goes on with nissan warranties

Welcome to the forum.

That's not good news at all. Sounds like the dealer is being a prick about it - they probably haven't even approached Nissan about it.

If you have a problem with the vehicle, you take it back and tell them. They then have to diagnose the problem properly and determine possible cause, before they take it to Nissan. If they determine that it's likely to be your fault they won't bother asking Nissan because the answer would be obvious (as an example, if your tyres show obvious signs of doing burnouts and your engine has overheated).

Nissan aren't stupid though - if it's likely to be a fault in the vehicle, or a servicing fault, they'll warrant it.

You need the dealer to be on your side in this - a little humble pie might be needed if you've already chewed his arm off. The other option is to try another dealer if you can get the vehicle to them.

I wonder what it was that caused it to blow? It's not a very common fault.

i found that until i got nissan head office involved my dealer didnt take me seriously
but as tony sais a little bit of patience with these koalas sometimes pays off
good luck

Its a common fault with D40's. Best bet is to suck it up, fix it and then invest in some UVP.

Gunning, He didnt damage anything from not having bash plates, it was the dealer who said that and in the end they can not show any signs of an impact.
So i would say its not a common fault in this situation, BUT it is common for people to damage the radiator when off road and with out UVP that is true it just doesnt apply here from what i read.

Hey guys nice to meet u all. Yeah i am a firm believer in responsibily for your own actions. If i went off road it would suck but id just pay for it. Yeah it is odd what they came up with but nevertheless i will continue my persuit. I just dont understand how "australias toughest tradie" can blow a head gasket and head after 26000 klms but im sure each manufacturer has factory defect every now and then but i just wish this wasnt necessary. Sucks but may have no option but to sell and go buy another which is a shame cuz i do like my datsun navara

The trouble with that is you could still get a dud from any manufacturer, as i said before i havent herd of this before unless there was some sort of damage ect, but as for just suddenly doing the head-gasket or head its not a common issue and once fixed you should be good to go.
mate i have had three Navs and they have all been great utes that have coped a hiding.
