Alloy or Steel Bullbar?

hey im new to this site. while where on the subject of bull bars. i bought my self a 06 str about for months ago. it only had a bumper on it. i had been looking on gumtree for a second hand bull bar for ages come across a alloy one for 400 so i bought it.
im ust wondering if anyone had ever mounted a winch to a alloys bar. i no with the steel ones they normaly mount the bar but obviously u cant mount them like that to a alloy one coz they will bend. but i was thinking u could mount it to the mounts behind the bull bar and make ur own custom make mounts and brackets ur self.
just wondering if anyone has ever done this be for or has any ideas?

Welcome to the forum, Adam.

It can't be mounted to the alloy bar itself, but you can put a frame in behind the alloy bar and mount the winch on that.

Gave my steel nissan bar a workout this morning, Bloody wallaby at about 60 or 70 k,s little bit of fur under the wing of the bar and nothing else, Tyres went over it as well so will keep an eye on tyres for alignment

Was doing near on a 100 when i spotted him, Took foot of accelerator and was going for the brake when he started crossing in front of me, put the brakes on and took the edge of the speed, Only just got him straight under the bar and then under the tyre

I always do 60 when slowing down from 100

I hit a coppers log bollard with my steel bar when perving at the beach car park, didn't even leave a mark on it. I didn't check the log, but it was still there last time I was up there.

hi all i picked up a brand new alloy bullbar very cheep on e bay. but its for a 2wd d22 so it wont fit mine. its in the box with all mounting brackets and hardware ill take any reasonable offer as all its doing is taking up space in shed , PM me with offer if your interested located in newcastle area.
