And he sold his Nav to buy the ranger cause he was having to many problems, lol
Wonder if he will get a Toyo next..

hes selling it to buy a cruser :p

i said its all good and well to have had all that replaced and yes You might get alot more warranty on those parts now, But to Have just had all that done and then to be selling it so soon... Makes me steer clear, esp as hes chasing 40-50K

The ST that was just in the prang had the radiator replaced a few months back at the same time as the front diff because it was intermittently leaking water out of the bottom near the core, it only seemed to do it when under load but it made it very hard to pin point. It was the white stain that made it clear that it was even leaking at all.
Then a few days before the acko i noticed the top rubber mounts were shot and the new radiator was wobbling all over the joint.
the funny thing was it wa booked in for a service and for them to check a few more thing for warranty, radiator mounts, rear door handles hard to open, ac vents making a ruckus when i turn the car on and off or change position of the vents (eg floor to face) little rattles in the dash and the clunking in the driveline which in hindsight may well of been the diff that let go.
The dealer rang me in the morning to see if i was coming in and i said prob no need now!! lol

BUT despite all those little things and one not so minor i still loved my Nav and would still buy another one if the Ranger pans out to be a **** box.
Also contrary to allot of others nissan were always great to me in regards to warranty, and i really couldnt fault them.
yeah i had allot of stuff fixed but the main thing is they got fixed, as far as im concerned all cars will have problems some bigger then others, the main thing is how well the company handle those faults, as long as they get fixed and im not in there every day then it should be ok.

How did the Thai ST compare problem wise to the Spanish? I seem to recall that a front wheel bearing got chewed out after a bog hole and the timing chain was replaced although wasn't really worn?

Just asking because the only thing that I have had replaced under warranty is a scratched rear door trim at the 1,000k service, and while I wouldn't have mentioned it because I think my daughter did it, the wife dropped the car off and told them. The only other issue I have had is a leaky radiator cap and the tight arses bent the tabs rather than replacing the cap at the last service.

The dealership was owned by a local but was recently sold which is unfortunate. Not sure what the new mob would do with an intermittently leaky radiator. Maybe give it a wash?

I actually think the Thai was assembled better, less rattles and squeaks ect, BUT the spain had all the goodies and the extra power.
I did like how the Thai had the pop out cup holders in the back for the kids, the spain didnt due to the power and usb socket in the glove box,
The Spain was also good how the back seat folded up with the 60-40 split,,,,,,,
mmmmmmmmm i really cant say which i liked more, BUT im leaning toward the spain and only because of a few key points but not on build quality.

The traction control would be good too. There is a spot on the dam wall that when flexed up the Nav will not climb but the wife's Pajero with traction control will.

Oh and the extra power would be nice. The thing is, the current Spanish ST with all those extra goodies can be bought for about the same price I bought my Thai ST nearly 3 years ago. Pretty good value.

Anyway no good banging on about the Nav. When is the ETA for the Ranger and how are you managing work wise without a ute or has the Hilux come to the rescue?

Yeah the traction control was really good and the extra horses were great, even with the 33's and the car fully loaded with the camper it went awesome.
$ for $ i think they are the best value dual cab on the market.

The ranger is prob 2 weeks away. They have to get one from another yard then it has to be fitted up with a heap of accessories, so by the time the car is sent to the yard then sent to TJM and back to the yard i dont think i will see it for a fortnight.

As for work i have been letting one of my workers carry all the crap and i have just been using the X-trail NRMA hired for me to get me to and from site and have been doing a bit of office work to keep the boys going. Actually im enjoying not being on the tools as much and being out of the heat we have had lately.

Looks like you can fit 285/75/16's or 33's on the Ranger with no lift and no other mods, just bolt them up.
With a lift and a slight change in offset you can run 305's, im happy with that i will prob go with 285/75/16 on a 8" csa Raptor rim but the 305/70/16's are tempting mmmmmmmm

here are the rims

another good reason to get a ranger no guard chopping and no need to replace uca's and all that bull s@#t' less time out in the shed lol

The other thing is you can do very simple diff drop kits for them like the Hilux's so if you just want to level out the cvs its just a matter of a few spacers/shims, super easy to do and really cheap.

it was like Nissan went out of there way to make the d40 so hard to modify or customize from the silly stud pattern right through to lifting of suspension I must admit the reason why I bought the d40 was because I was bought up driving Nissan's I hope the new ranger doesn't disappoint you and will look forward to seeing how it copes on the trail's.

Nah, they are independent front. Only rear is solid axle. Unfortunately there are only a hand full of live axle front and rear that can still be bought brand new, Landcruiser 76,79 series etc. and jeep wranglers, landys.

Ahhh ok for some reason i thought they were live axle. Even so, that would be my next choice over a D40. Triton last with Hilux after that.

The Rangers just look so bloody tough.

Cruiser V8td dual cab next for me I think!! That's still a long way off, want to get some years out of the nav first, really love this truck:):)

Oh man how i'd love a cruiser single cab. Such beautiful pieces of machinery. IMO, the BEST looking ute on the Aus market by a mile.

I hear though, they are bad on fuel and not that great offroad. But then again, they are mainly focused at farmers and the like. Wouldnt sway me though, if i had $80k to spend on a ute id buy one no troubles.

The Ranger is certainly the best looking truck of the lot. With the King Cab looking the ducks guts. Well if you like that American style look. Very 150ish look about it. Apparently it's only 15% smaller than the F150.

You can't beat live axles front and rear IMO, and the cruisers last forever too. Sure they are a bit old school inside and they drive like a bit of a truck, but that adds to the whole experiance! LOVE EM.

As good as people think they are they are WAY over priced and the stock V8 doesnt have as much grunt as you would think they should and actually has less torque then the navs.
(151kw and 430nm torque,, D40 = 440nm torque 140kw)

I could just never justify the price on one IMO they should be at least 20k cheaper.
