Port holes are different shape. Square on the Z, and round on the KA (or other way around).

The switch is a known issue, but usually the headlights fail first. For some reason, there is no relay for the headlights, so the whole current travels through the switch. Might be worth replacing the switch with a new one, and adding in relays for the headlights while you're there.

Have to say, my 'English' left a few English people mystified when I was working in Europe.

I used my Z24 alternator when i put in the KA. Worked fine. Just had to 'massage' the bracket with an angle grinder to get it to fit.

One of the threads in this section is about a free digital manual. In any case, thermostats is an easy job. You'll get one from super cheap or any spare parts shop . Get a gasket too or some gasket goo. Where the top radiator hose goes to the engine, should be 3 bolts to remove a small cast...

Easy enough to find out! Checking thermostat should be done regularly anyway. Do you do your own servicing?

Yeah, is it a D21 or a 720? If its a 720 and you've got a separate transfer case then your options for finding a gearbox increase to non 4WD applications.

Wow! I thought mine was buggered. Must have made a noise on take off. Haven't tried Moreley's. would be worth a go before ripping the box out. Centre bearings aren't too much either and fairly easy to fit.

Have you thought of installing a weber carby? One from a mid 80s Falcon would be suitable (might need re-jetting), or you can often get reco ones from eBay specifically for the Navara. Would be better bang for buck than extractors anyway.

Perhaps do a quick 2000 or so and do another change. If that's 330,000 worth of filings, it may not be as bad as you think. The noise, however, is not so good.
