hello new member worshipful here. I have a 1985 navara with a 2.4 litre petrol motor 4x4. my gearbox has given up the ghost however I can get a gearbox from a diesel 4x4 will it fit
mine is a 5 speed not sure if Nissan had a 4 speed box as well and does it matter if I fit one or the other

Welcome to the forum!

There are a couple of members here who have a wealth of knowledge on Navaras of that era, they'll be able to answer your question more accurately than I. I do doubt the diesel box will fit the petrol engine and being 4x4 it'll have a transfer case and will probably require a change in prop shaft.

The diesel one won't fit unfortunately, different bellhousing, and the D21 box is integral bellhousing and half of the casing. You can sometimes find gearbox exchange suppliers in your local city, or you can grab a rebuild kit off ebay and have a crack yourself.

Yeah, is it a D21 or a 720? If its a 720 and you've got a separate transfer case then your options for finding a gearbox increase to non 4WD applications.
