Hi.
Re; 2012 Spanish built Nissan Navara D40 St-X Diesel.
164.000 k.m on clock.

D.p.f filter fine and clear.

Coolant department all fine with no loss.

Machine all off a sudden runs at idle with a slight knocking noise at same time it pours out a stenchy whitish haze then cuts out.

I run Amsoil Signature series diesel 5w-30 and Amsoil Diesel Cetane booster and injector cleaner every so often.

I dropped tank to clean fuel intake strainer then decarbonized E.g.r, manifold valve and cleared out as much carbon from head.

Injectors was tested fine at diesel injection service shop on $1.8 million dollar Bosch test bed one of 3 in nation.

Glow plugs tested fine.

After all this the engine still struggle to run and pour out foggy haze.

No fault codes are showing.

Does anyone know what may be causing this?.

Cheers.

what does the white smoke smell like? diesel or oil?
if its diesel smell its either injector or its regening. if oil smell then check turbo.

Hi. It smells nothing like diesel or oil. It's very acrid to the nose but it's not losing coolant either. Machine fails to run after when throttled and just dies off.

i would check the shaft play of the turbo as an easy thing to check.
the other is probably cam timing especially with yd25 history of cam chains.

the other possibility is to see if it has an intake butterfly. it may be sticking closed, plumbed up wrong etc and closing. also worth checking if intake pipes are collapsing. a few suffer from that. the rubber gets hot, then gets sucked closed. there is a few aftermarket replacements for them. also pre turbo pipes, especially if air filters a bit clogged up.

O.k I just got told it's a failed e.g.r coolant cooler. I had to order one as I'm told they fail often around 160.000k.m due to the torture they get in Thermo cycling. It was a good opportunity to decarbon valves etc.

It's mainly coolant but there's no water in my sump oil or radiator.

A dealership service manager asked around and he says there's possibly a leak going into combustion chamber which is pretty common fault.

I'm not sure if e.g r valve failure can lead to same symptoms?.

I wonder if using a pour in stop leak is wise?.

if its the egr cooler you will need to replace it.
i would not recommend stop leak products.
the other option is to block off the egr and remove the egr cooler.
