Violent vibration beyond 80kms/hr

howdy all,

when driving past 80kms/hr my 2006 Navara starts vibrate .. i dont think its wheel alignment because the steering wheel is okay. Once i get 80 and beyond it gets worse.

any ideas ? i am suspecting the front drive shaft ?

I'd suspect drive shafts yes, or an angry gnome with a hammer who can't run any faster but his beard's been caught in something underneath.

Slide under the car (watch out in case the gnome's awake) and give both ends of both drive shafts a good shake. They shouldn't move at all.

yeah sounds like your right .. i will check this tomorrow, seems like its a common issue.

Hi mate I've just had these dramas! Universal joints on your driveshafts! Slide under the ute and grab the tail shaft and if any movement when you wiggle it, uni joints for sure

yeah man .. the front tail shaft is loose !

how hard are these to take off i wonder !

I had that same issue with my STX, had all four universals replaced, about $45 each & about $200 labour, sweet as now
