I am planning to do my own oil changes in my STX550 but…
A friend had heard that the diesel rail pump in a V9X engine uses a multiplying effect coupled to the lubrication engine oil pressure. So if there is no engine oil pressure then the injector pressure will be low and the engine may not start.
The warning was that the engine oil had to be changed quickly, before it drained out of the injector pump. If it did then it does not reprime and there is a problem.
This advice sounds dodgy to me. Is there anything in it as I am considering doing my own oil changes.
Amy comments? Is this all BS, or something I need to consider? I normally like to let the oil drain for 30 mins or so.
