UHF channels - when, where, who, what

I did a search but didn't really find much to answer some of my queries.

I just put a UHF in my car and interestingly enough, hit scan and all I really get around north Brisbane is Channel 7 chat. The people on this channel have to be the biggest degenerates I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. The swearing and their general lack of anything civil is mind blowing. I didn't think people like this existed!

But back to all my questions, there are a couple of channels reserved (by gentlemans agreement I believe) for the Bruce Hwy, convoys (caravans) and trucks. After heading to Byron and back on the weekend, I hit scan and really didn't hear any chat anywhere. Is this normal?

A general guide for what's where would be super helpful.

CH40 is the general truckie channel, CH18 is where most caravanners spend their time.

ch29 also used on highway, more so down south. 1-8 and 31-38 are repeater channels, with ch5 and 35 reserved for emergency use only. 22 and 23 reserved for telemetry only.

Traffic control often use ch6. well at least around this neck of the woods they do.
