Hello from Darwin. I'm new to the forum so I hope this subject hasn't been done to death already.

I have a 2008 ST-R D22 that I'm upgrading to a 2013 model. I've just forked out $4000 after getting a load of contaminated fuel in the 08 and want to protect the new one by installing a Racor 445R2 prefilter with water sensor - $250 delivered from the US. The water sensor is my idea - figured it wouldn't hurt. The filter model is what I've had recommended by two specialists.
Has anyone installed one of these and where do you locate it given theres 2 batteries in the new D22? Also - have you had any probs since it was installed? Picking up the new car in 2 weeks.

Alot of people have done it using various filter brands. I used a Stanadyne system from Terrain Tamer and its worked a treat saving my car once already. I made up a bracket and hung it from the existing fule filter bracket. So the fuel filters are side by side. Less fuel line for it to travel through the better

Thanks Rusty, on another note I'm not sure if there's a lift pump in the tank, or whether that will complicate things. Reason being I got a price on a Griffin filter system and the rep warned me about not fitting it if there's a lift pump, but maybe there systems are low pressure? I have not heard that issue raised before re: Racor filters so I'm going to go ahead - will post some pics once its in.
