Question for anyone with prorack bars and fitment, on my D40 the front rack fits real nice, the rear is a different story.

The bracket that goes under the weather seal is pushed up and cannot go any higher, it seems to fit OK but the stub that the other bracket fits on hits against my door - photos below if my explanation doesn't make sense:

Anyone else have a similar issue - maybe I'm doing something wrong; any tips or hints?

Cheers
Dave

Davey, I just took a set off my '12 Thai built D40, and didn't have that issue. When i was fitting them, trying to find the best position, I found there was a notch cut in the double panel under the door rubber, and the brackets fitted much neater there.

The factory ones go where that threaded hole is and screw into it.
Maybe the ones you have are designed to fit there too. I would of thought they would utilise the same hole to help lock it in.

Not sure if there is a difference between Spanish and Thai in regards to fitting racks, mines Spanish; I don't have notches where the brackets can sit in.

With the bracket flush up against the panel the stub that comes out of the bracket sits lower than the hole position, I've moved the bracket to line up with the hole, next to the hole and it still doesn't go any higher where as the stub for the rack on the front lines up with the hole...

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if it's possible to purchase the bolts to screw into the threaded holes?

Thanks
Dave

Thai built is different then. I don't have those threaded holes.

Just looking at your photo, could you not just enlarge the hole in the bracket to fit the threaded holes?

I also thought if you buy the specific racks for your model the bolt for that threaded hole should come with it

i use rhino racks which look like they mount roughly the same way. i also was annoyed that a couple wouldn't fit flush with the roof and down under the rubber seal. on mine, 2 brackets are specifically for the front and 2 for the back. i had 1 back bracket and 1 front bracket on each bar. fits perfect now!

Hey mate had the exact same fitting kit on my '14 D40. Front ones fit fine but the back ones I had to bend the brackets slightly to fit. They've taken some paint off the inside of the doors too. Gotta be careful because the weather sealing isn't top notch with these mounting kits so I'd recommend trying to source the permanet/rivet mounting kits

If your still looking at what to do with these racks they can be retrofitted to Rhino Rack tracks. Much better fitment as they don't hook under the weather strips, they need to be riveted to the roof though.

Was approx $400 for the tracks, fitting kit and install (not including the prorack roof racks)

I had same problem with Prorack on my Spanish build the bracket hit against my door.
i grained of little bit of the bolt of the bottom bracket and it helped.
After installing the canopy I changed for Rihno rack, they have bolts.
Maybe you can get them from them, or try Bunnings just get the 8.8 grade.

I have the exact same problem with my spanish d40 and the proracks too...
Not happy about it but couldnt find a solution without having to put the rails in the roof.

Stupid racks

So I also have spanish 2014 D40 and I also Purshased pro racks for the roof

Well I have spent weeks trying to source out the crews for the holes were racks go.
Firstly I rang Nissan in newcastle (Australia) and after spending 2.5 hrs on the phone with the guy.. He was amazing and patient and got to the bottom of it
Apparently Nissan brought them out as standard but wernt happy with them so they discontinued using them very quickly he told me may be lucky enough to find at a wreckers but more than likely not an they don't give a single detail of the score size etc
So after spending 3hrs at my local specialist bolt guy we tried about 300 different sizes styles types and not one single one actually fitted in there nicely and correctly
So if anyone has found the answer love to hear it hate the silly clamps under the door rubbers

I have Pro Racks on my Navara. I initially went with the clamp on style that lasted for about a year and half. Driving down the road and saw one of the bars bouncing down the road in my rearview mirror. Manage to save the other one before it came off, but the one that fell off was ran over by a car. Take two went to local Rhino Rack dealer and had the bolt in mounts installed and have not looked back. I did try to find the Nissan mounting hardware for the tracks on my Nav but no luck. They did a great job and I have not had any problems even hooked a tree branch and had to replace the mount but the screw on attachment did not come out and does not leak. I hope that makes sense.
