Hey guys got an oil leak on my 2012 Nissan navara d40. Attached some photos. Hoping someone on here will have an idea on where the leak is coming from(gasket etc)

Possibly the PCV. The outlet (top of the camshaft housing) is plastic and there have been reports of this cracking. It might just be a loose clamp, too. The hose isn't under a huge amount of pressure but being a diesel it'll have a decent flow.

It's pretty safe to throw degreaser on it and see if there's a sign of the leak afterwards. Just don't use high pressure - even a garden hose can be too much on "Jet".

As Old Tony suggests have a look at the outlet on the valve cover for the PCV. You can see the hose clamp on it in your first photo.

The other thing it might be is the top injector seal on No. 4. I've had that issue before and yours is looking a bit suspucious. With the engine running you may see oil weeping from around the top of the injector.

Nissan don't sell the top seals anymore and force you to buy a complete valve cover that comes with the seals installed. A couple of years ago the cost was about $230 but you can buy aftermarket seals for about $15 each. You don't say if your D40 is Spain or Thai because there are many subtle differences in parts including the top seals being different outside diameters.

The old seals are difficult to remove without damaging the plastic however I did eventually work out how to do it after a bit of trail and error on the old valve cover.

If it is the seal leaking then buying a new valve cover is the easiest way to sort it out without the aggravation of trying to remove the old seals and hammer in new ones and not damaging the plastic cover in the process.
